Wow. Glad I sat through that entire game. Similar to earlier in the year where there was that "I know we'll blow this" feeling, I suddenly have that "We'll somehow pull this out" feeling of late 2003. A sweep here and series wins against Washington and Pittsburgh would be absolutely huge. Unfortunately Milwaukee gets to play them both too.

Brew crew has to be a bit worried right now. Tomorrow's game is going to be a struggle...

This one has got to hurt.

Hopefully it leaves a mark

FWIW, on the Brewers' fan site, they seem pretty confident about Sheets going tomorrow. They were a bit upset with the Braun called strikout, but did acknowledge that the Cubs were getting bad call by Froemming also.

5.5 back in the Wild Card now, soon to be 5 because one of the Padres or Dodgers will lose today.

Not necessarily-if Arizona wins over SF today, they will be in the lead of the WC and the Cubs will be 5.5 back at the end of the day. They did move to within a game and a half of the Phillies today as well though.

And the most important thing-only 6.5 back of the Brewers! Figure out a way to beat Sheets tomorrow please!

Unlike the Cubs of the last couple of years, this team doesn't fold after being down by several runs. The only problem early in the year was the bullpen giving those runs right back. With the pen settling down, I have to think this team doesnt feel like it is ever out of a game.

FWIW, I believe we've always hit Sheets pretty well.

Most certainly not always, though recently we've had more success against him. He was a notorious Cub killer for several years.

It was really impressive how they stayed in it after that disaster of a 1st inning. Even Hill held on for those next two innings and kept the Brewers away from socring more. What a fight!

beat him up in milwaukee the first week of the year when he came off his opening day shutout of LA and got to him a little bit in Chicago before he tweaked his groin....so i wouldn't be afraid of Sheets...unfortunately i have to work and am goin to tape it (god i miss my DVR) and watch it after work

We didn't get to Sheets that game that he got hurt. He threw 3 scoreless against us, hurt himself, and then the reliever came in and we got 6 runs the next inning.

Lee's been excellent against Sheets, Floyd has been good, DeRosa has been ok, and Ramirez has been terrible. None of the rest likely to play have many AB's against Sheets (thankfully, no Jones and Izturis tomorrow like earlier in the season. Their career numbers against Sheets are each below a .300 OPS.)

cubs.com still doesn't have the video and audio replays posted, and im getting really impatient.

I was stuck in class during the last four innings and could only follow via this thread, and I still nearly went through the roof. If I had been listening to Ron, my face may have exploded.

WHAT A GAME

Hill was less than impressive and Lee didn't get a hit (not to metion Bowenis batting below .100 as a cub) but

1. The bullpen had 6 shutout innings

2. Fontenot came through again

3. ARAMIS RAMIREZ BABY

One other thing....I got goose bumps listening to pat and ron.

Wow.

Listening to the archive audio now, and Fontenot just singled Sori over to third, and I'm getting giddy all over again. This will definitely never get old. I just hope Lee or Ramirez comes through here...

Just listened to Ramirez go yard. Pat and Ron definitely gave me goosebumps. I still can't believe that happened.

I want to have Aramis Ramirez's babies.

You have no idea how mad I am that I was stuck at work during this game. Somehow seeing Ramirez' home run on the game cast just isn't the same. :(

Still a great win. Lets keep the ball rolling tomorrow. Kick the Brewers when they're down, then pour sugar in their gas tank.

Moments like this are what make Gameday audio worth the purchase. I just love listening to them over and over again.

Pat: "...and Ramirez, greeted by all of his teammates at home plate, all 25 guys, jumping around like a bunch of 10-year-olds."
