Has a catcher ever "accidentally on purpose" missed a fast ball to nail an ump in the mask? If not, no one deserves it more than Bruce.

Not sure it was intentional but I remember it happening in either Game 1 or 2 of the 1984 World Series.

We had that play in High School. Especially summer ball when the umps couldn't give two sh*ts. Midway through wind-up catcher would complain about dirt in his contact and then fall away from the batter, leaving the ump wide open.

Only got him in the chest protector or mask. Never the neck.

I think Todd Hundley did it when he was a cub if memory serves me correctly.

The only good thing he ever did.

Hundley argued a call and got into with the ump, next inning he "misses" a straight fastball.

I like using Izturis here. This way, he doesn't have an opportunity to screw up later.
I bet it was a double switch and Izturis stays in the game.
