about time malone get up to daytona, or maybe even Tenn.?? With his age I would like to see him in Tenn.

also- does Soto play at 1st. some of the time? I think he could be a good catcher/1B next year off the bench.

I wouldn't give Ronny a shot at SS expecting him to become a really good one. But I think he could be given a shot at SS if the rest of the team is structured properly to take advantage of his low price tag. If you are going to get crap production out of a position, you better be paying $350,000 for it, and not $4.5 million.

Yeah, just about everyone at Iowa has played multiple positions this season (Moore at SS and 3B, EPatt at 2B and LF, Hoffpauir at 1B and RF, now Soto at C and 1B).

he's not nearly a good enough hitter to be a viable bat at 1B, but he certainly is good enough to be a backup catcher. Unfortunately Jim has us stuck with Blanco for another year.

Yikes... really, maybe he has figured something out, but I'm afraid he's just AAAA material. Rich Hill had less than a half-season cumulative to show that he belonged with the big club before they finally gave him an extended shot during the second half of last year. Cedeno had a whole year to prove that he could play, and he sucked butt.
Mike Schmidt hit .196 in his first season, and he turned out OK. I'm not saying Cedeno will be anywhere near as good as Schmidt, but I think he may just have some Dustiness to work off. He did hit during his callup in 2005, so I think it's premature to write him off.
