Wasn't Malone like a 48th. round pick last year???? How old is he??? does he project as a big league hitter or not?

Malone was a 49th rounder last year. He's 22 and did well in Peoria last season...he obviously has mastered low-A ball.

He signed late but got 71 ABs at the end of last summer in the AZL. No surprise that he stayed in extended spring training as a 19-year old, the surprise is that he's not at Boise or Peoria.

It's been mostly Robinson Chirinos. Johnston and Mota are SS at Peoria.

The Cubs pulled this same stuff with Mota. He was in Daytona last season for 170 ABs as a 19 year old.

I think they'll be a bit more careful with Samson - they definitely value him more than Mota financially. I think he'll end up down in Boise once their season starts.
