Withrow isnt all that surprising. The Dodgers have a pipeline from texas high schools. I dunno about him over Main though.

Expect the Jays to look at Arencibia or Nick Schmidt, probably Schmidt. Expect the Giants to look at Anthony Peroda.

BOOM

Good call.

So, do you agree the Rangers will take a chance on Porcello with their pick if he's still there?

for UK from BA

Clemson righthander David Kopp didn’t have a great start last weekend in regional play–he gave up nine hits and six runs (four earned) in five innings against Coastal Carolina in a game Clemson won 11-8. But he’s done enough this spring to position himself at No. 81 on BA’s Top 200 Prospects, and some clubs have him as a back-of-the-first-round talent. Now word is coming that Kopp is a strong possibility at the back of the first round for several teams as their second option.

Kopp has had a solid if not spectacular season at 6-2, 3.67. He works off a sinking low 90s fastball that has touched 96, yet doesn’t have swing-and-miss stuff, as evidenced by his 103 hits allowed and 75 strikeouts in 98 innings.

Another name who apparently has been climbing draft boards this morning is Virginia prep righty Justin Grimm, who has signed with Georgia but also has a Walters State (Tenn.) JC commitment. Grimm, ranked No. 177 on our Top 200, has a raw power arm and might find a landing spot in the supplemental round.

I LOVE KOPP myself.

When I saw him in Iowa I liked Grimm.

UK, who are you thinking the Cubs look at at 48? Crosby?

You know I don't like commenting on kids that I've seen.

What do you think of the Vitters pick?

It was a safe pick with a higher ceiling. I think he'll hit like Wallach in Tim's good years but might not reach the same level defensively.

Fair enough, my bad.

So what is causing Porcello to fall? Besides Boras?

Yeah - and his contract demands.

I can't see him making it past the Yankees. This is like watching Hochevar fall to the Dodgers and being disappointed the Cubs don't have a chance at nabbing him, but I don't think the Cubs would nab Porcello at 48 if they had a chance.

SD will take Simmons or Schmidt, probably Schmidt. The Rangers will take Borbon.

Missed on the Giants pick. Nailed Schmidt. ChiSox will take RHP Michael Main. One thing that could happen would be the Rangers selecting Main as a centerfielder.

They NEED a speedy OFer in their organization. Mains probably the second best CF prospect in the draft behind Borbon. Borbons probably the pick.

Oakland - tough pick. I think Beane wants Kyle Russell but I don't know if he can afford to buy him out of a season at Texas. I'll say Matt Mangini Corey Brown or Chris Carpenter. They may even pop Doolittle here instead of their next pick. I think theyll lean towards Mangini. If they go HS, I really don't know. Maybe Cumberland.

Detroit - Rick Porcello
