Some of you who are like me and think the Cubs are punished much more by MLB than other teams will be interested in keeping an eye on this developing situation. Berkman was kicked out of last night's game against the Rockies and in the 9th inning he retured to the field during a benches clearing shouting match. I am just interested to see his punishment and I see this as a blatent disregard for the rules of the game. It will be interesting

A slap on the wrist, in fine form, if its anything like the comparable punishments for hitting batters by Cubs pitchers and Roy Oswalt a few seasons ago.

Isn't the guy in charge of handing out punishment an old Astro guy?
Yep, Bob Watson. He was with the Astros in the 60s and 70s. I believe he scored baseball's one millionth run.

as long as he promises not to do it again, he probably won't be fined or suspended.

matter of fact, I think mlb might owe berkman an apology.

What the hell?!? No way, if they let him off with nothing I'll be pissed. How is this different from when Bobby Valentine got kicked out but returned to the dugout in cognito? Didn't he get a few games suspension for that? This is the identical same thing, no question about it.

yes, very much sarcasm.

Yeah.

I dislike Berkman though. He just rubs me the wrong way for some reason.

Berkman received a 2-game suspension.

Link.

That seems a bit light to me.

Oh, Berkman plans to appeal.

It will probably get reduced to 1/2 game.

Probably because of that game years back when he pretended to get hit in the head by a pitch from Remlinger, only for the tape to show it clearly didn't. I'm almost sure thats how it happened, because later Rem came out of the dugout and called him out on it. I think most Cub fans started to hate Berkman then.

My guess is 2 innings.

He played tonight vs the White Sox while his appeal is pending. He was ejected again in the 4th inning.

That's certainly not the way to get a suspension reduced on appeal.

When Bob Watson is handing them out and it involves an Astro, you never know.

the suspension incited him to get ejected, kind of like how the cubs players getting ejected always incites the crowd into becoming unruly.

The way Berkman has been hitting this year, the Astros might actually benefit from Lance not playing
