Where did you hear that?

Lou has been suspended today. Trammell will be managing today (at least outwardly).

Hendry is on The Score right now. Ward to the DL. He wants Felix to stay permanently.

I want Felix to hit above .125 in Chicago.

I'll be at the game today. I'm glad I'll get to see Felix for the first time in Chicago (I was at the game in St. Louis where he hit his first homer).

Does it matter if he does or not? The season's done. You might as well get the kid AB's in the majors the rest of the season. Nothing to lose and everything to gain.

He's going to be given the opportunity... I should clarify my previous post, Hendry said he wants to give Felix the opportunity to stay permanently (instead of calling this move temporary while someone goes on the DL).

Obviously, this means that before Ward can return the Cubs will have to move some dead weight from the 25 man roster... Speaking of which, the Cubs should also be looking to trade or release Miller soon.

Exactly. At this point we can either repeat ourselves last year and cling to silly hope that we'll turn it around, or we can recognize what reality is and rebuild.

Rebuilding would mean a bit of a firesale. Eyre, Howry, Cesar, Jones, Floyd, Ward, Zambrano, Barrett, etc., all have to be given up for any return that could benefit us in the future.

You do that, and you bring the kids up in mass. Hill/Soto/maybe Fox behind the plate to learn. Theriot at SS just to see what he does over a full year. Pie in center. Murton or prospect in right. Bring up Rapada and any of the other kids who deserve a chance.

As has been said, you either win it all or get the #1 draft pick, or you lose. Since one of those options is a little closer than the other, lets go for it. Maybe we find a few surprises at the MLB level from some of our kids.

I don't think the recall of Pie is a signal that the Cubs are rebuilding (nor should it be). They can still make moves to improve the team; like trading Jones and others. Realistically, every team in the NLC is still in contention.

Line-ups yet? I really want to see Pie start and show these people the meaning of baserunning and defense.

I'm really, really curious to see who we get at the trade deadline. In-season trades are arguably Hendry's greatest skill. I'd like to see what everyone's priority list looks like.

Out of curiosity, what were Soriano's numbers when Pie was with the team?

Edit: Too lazy to look deeper, but it looks like his average when Pie was on the club was .354.

I hope we see this lineup:

CF Pie

SS Theriot

LF Soriano

1B Lee

3B Ramirez

RF Floyd

C Barrett

2B DeRosa

That's the best possible lineup with the players we have, IMO

I dont want Pie leading off...

I saw Pie a few weeks ago when Iowa played the Redhawks here in Oklahoma City. Pie was batting second that game.

In another thread they said Pie is hitting second and Jones is hitting 5th.

Theriot leading off followed by Pie would be fine as well, IMO.
