Did you guys see the girl with A-rod on the front cover of the NY Post?

At least he wasn't out all night playing cards and dropping a few hundred grand, you know?

I guess it gives a new meaning to the thread title...

She's a stripper. Odds are it's not very apropos.

No, you can't touch. Just look.

Unless I'm mistaken, "ball" is a pretty common substitute for "mine" or "I got it".

I believe you're correct.

That is correct, and it happens more frequently than many of you think. I have fond memories of Keith Moreland sometime in 84 or 85 yelling "CUT" while on his way home because he knew he was a dead duck. The first baseman cut the throw and Moreland scored easily.

it's definitely a bush move on Rodriguez' part. no, its not against the rules, but there are plenty of things not against the rules that you shouldn't due.

juan uribe deked derrek lee a few years ago into thinking there was a foul ball when it was actually fair. in my opinion, its a similar situation.

When was that and what exactly happened? I don't remember...

it was a game at wrigley either in '05 or '06. prior was pitching for the cubs. somebody hit one down the right field line, lee approached 2nd base and was heading towards 3rd. uribe's at 2nd with his hands in the air. lee slow down and looks to right field where the ball was. he realizes its fair and only gets to 3rd, but he could've/should've scored if he had kept running.

I remember that play. I thought it was cheap and pissed me off.

Yeah... I think that's different, because infielders giving baserunners the "slow down, ball was fair" sign is a common courtesy.

definite bush league move on a-rod's part.

When a baserunner gets faked out, I'm okay with it --- the runner has to look for his coaches. A runner shouldn't rely on what the opposing teams' fielder does.

In this situation with A-rod, the fielder is concentrating on the ball. When someone yells "MINE" that fielder isn't thinking "is that my SS's voice?" No, he's thinking, "I don't want to run into my fielder --- the ball might not get caught. . . . . GET OUT OF THE WAY." Also, isn't the SS the captain of the IF, so it would be very reasonable to think that the SS could call off the 3b on a pop up.

I only wish it had happened to A-Rod. I'm sure he would have thrown a fit about it.
