The Cubs must have the greatest pitching staff in the history of baseball to put up the numbers they have this year with Barrett as their catcher.

i never thought barrett's pitch calling hurt the team, or made the pitchers worse. but his ability to block pitches and throw out runners has been seemed worse this year.

There may be a few catchers who have done it, but the two most prominent examples are Biggio, Bench and Berra.
That's something Yogi might say.

I originally listed just Bench and Biggio, and later added Yogi. Guess I did a poor job making those changes.

Bench and Biggio are the obvious ones, since they were more recent. I'm not sure I would have remembered Berra myself (I forgot that he switched positions to make room for Elston Howard behind the plate).

well obviously the most important attribute is that your last name starts with B.

So Barrett is a natural to switch positions. So is Blanco, for that matter. And Bako before him.

Are those actions not reflected in the pitcher's numbers?
