I really though this team was better than this..guess I was wrong.

So did I. And the sad thing is we should be with the production we are getting from Hill, Lillly, and Marquis. What a waste.

When you're the Cubs, even the pythag and other stats mean nothing. It's not reality......it's Cub reality. Nothing normal applies.

Hill, Lilly, and Marquis can produce all they want. We'll still suck. Lee & ARam can do whatever they want. Even a positive run differential won't matter.

We will just suck, period.

Thanks for the great weekend, COBS!

Keep your chin up! We still have tomorrow to stink it up.

Unfortunately my heart is with this stupid team. I don't get fired up after a Bulls or Bears loss.

ANy chance Hendry gets fired midseason?

I always enjoy a good firing. I think the Cubs missed the boat with Baker. It would have been much more entertaining if Hendry was in a Vince McMahon or Donald Trump kind of role. He could have made his way to the field before the 7th inning stretch and got on the mic:

"Dusty, waddle your fat butt out here. Faster! ... Don't point that toothpick at me."

(Dusty joins Hendry on the field.)

Hendry - "Look at you Johnny B, you're a disgrace. What's with the stupid wristbands? Do you know what I do to employees like you when they don't get the job done."

Dusty - "You tip the cap? Dude?"

Hendry- "Yooooou're FIIIIIIIIIIRRRED!"

(Crowd erupts in applause.)

So they can lose in the Super Bowl again. :(

And then UCLA could lose in the Final Four again come bball time.

indirectly ripping the bullpen

He should take part of the blame for this one for not putting in the best reliever on the team with the game on the line.

What a complete and utter demoralizing loss.

This is the high point folks. This is as good as it gets.

I caught a bit of the game on the radio on the way from the sis's graduation to the restaurant. The part I caught was the Jacque Jones double to bring in two, then getting gunned at the plate on the DeRosa single. Then I heard that Ohman was being brought in to the game...

Did he blow it, or did someone else?

I feel the same way. I feel as if we are gonna just hover around .500 all year. Barely going over, going down again. . . ect. .

How many games have we just flat out gave away? It's has to be at least 8 games. If we just won half of those we would be in good shape. I don't even know what to say anymore. It's the same thing year after year.

You may have noticed that that is something horrible baseball teams do quite frequently.

hmm... i would say 4/5 Cincinnatti, 4/13 Cincinnatti, 4/18 Atlanta, 4/20 St. Louis, 4/23 Milwaukee, 4/30 Pirates, 5/8 Pirates, 5/12 Phillies

all these games minus the 4/13 Cinci game the cubs were winning at some point in the seventh inning. the cinci game they had a 5-0 lead for Big Z so that counts too....the brutal part is they rallied from deficits in three of these games...so i'd say you are right on with your prediction of 8 games that the cubs flat out gave away...mostly thanks to that pre-seaason strength of theirs, bullpen pitching...

I was at that game. Man, did that suck.

Yeah, I can easily come up with many games we let slip by off the top of my head.. and that's sad...

Can we get tomorrow's thread up anytime soon, since it is an early start in about 12 hours? I really want to forget about this game.
