Was I the only person who interpreted the original post as meaning that the rap and other violent or "inappropriate" entertainment causes domestic abuse notion was tired and overused? I'm prety sure he wasn't trying to blame rap. That sentence had all the markings of sarcasm.

I wish people who don't know anything about rap music would shut up about it.

Its really aggravating how this whole "rap music is to blame" bullcrap is coming to the forefront again.

People like to find scapegoats, and rap is somehow convenient in this case.

People are afraid to talk about these issues for whatever reason, so they bring up rap music and alcohol as reasons for the behavior.

Its more a symptom of some extremely, pathetically weak fools taking out their out of control emotions and anger on the other sex. Anyone who hits a woman is worse than a subhuman, regardless of how it happened.

Its not rap or drugs, its just foul souls who don't deserve the lives they have.

I'd like to see MLB managed like the NFL or WADA. Too bad the MLBPA is the strongest existing union. For those of us hoping for stricter policies and tighter drug control, we're dreaming.

I agree, but at least the discussion needs to occur. Is music/vedio games a cause or an effect?

I think music is reflection of a culture not the cause of the culture's ills. Mysoginy is part of our culture and has been for a long time.

Or are they both? Could they be a reaction to the culture which in turn reacts to it?

The kids, they listen to the rap music, which gives them the brain damage, with the hippin' and the hoppin' and the bippin' and the boppin', so they don't know what the jazz, is all about! You see, jazz is like Jell-O pudding pops. No, actually it's more like Kodak film-no, actually jazz is like the New Coke. It'll be around forever. Heh, heh, heh.

YES!
