I've been wondering the same thing.

I'm guessing that he has a lot less time to hang around during the regular season. When he is in Arizona for spring training, he's presumably not with his family so all he has to do is write about the Cubs and search for interesting story lines. During the season, he has to write a column per game, spend several hours at the ballpark interviewing players and watching the game and then come home and spend time with his family.

Three other guys filed stories at the Herald this weekend as Bruce was off the beat. He'll probably be back for tonight's game.

at the risk of sounding stalkerish...i remember a few years ago that bruce said the regular beat writers for the papers get home weekend series off.

I'm still here. The beat guys usually get the home weekends off, except of course, for the White Sox series. I had a college graduation (my daughter's) to attend this past weekend. Good stuff.

Bruce is nice to come here and post and all. And he's nice. But I'm sorry. Can we call off the search parties every time he doesn't post in a week? What is he, your girlfriend? Possibly your morphine fix? Are you having fits when bruce doesn't post?

My concern actually was born of the fact that a) I had not seen him post much lately and I appreciate having an insider posting here to keep the wild speculation down to a dull roar and 2) when I clicked on his name on the Daily Herald website, they only brought up a few columns, little that is recent and nothing for the month of April. I was concerned that something had happened that I was not privy to.
