Yep, I was just as surprised. I was waiting for him to say, "Abreu's gotta be looking to hit a fastball anywhere on that 3-1 count - don't get to two strikes dude!"

We're cursed. That's it. I give up. Only the Cubs get a guy who says walks clog the bases and you need to go out there looking to get a hit. And then talks up a player with great OBP AFTER he is gone.

I think theres a secret society government conspiracy to make the cubs continuously suck. And secret "agents" like Baker, Hendry, MacPhail, and others have been sent throughout the years to keep them from winning. They do it because their ancient accult "prophecy" tells them that if the Cubs ever win the WS, the world will end. We are suffering for the betterment of mankind. :)

almost everyone recognized the inability of the cubs to get on base last year, and some of dusty's mind-dumbingly stupid comments -- "base clogging", "hitting, not walking" and "can't walk across home plate" -- have been roundly criticized. Now that he's out of a job, he almost has to recognize one of the biggest reasons that he was let go.

In Dusty's mind, it's not a problem if Abreu gets walked since he can steal bases. Someone like Youkilis is who Dusty would react negatively to.
