We have always been told the reason our beloved Cubs haven’t won a World Series is because of the Curse of the Billy Goat. Well I have been doing some thinking and the real reason is the curse of Wrigley Field. The Cubs have not won a World Series since they have moved to The Friendly Confines. So maybe it is time that the Cubs build a new stadium to get rid of this curse.

I've always believed that "curses" is one of the most ridiculously best phrases you can mutter when something doesn't go your way

Couldn't agree more.

Believe what you want.

WRIGLEY IS THE CURSE.

People who believe in curses and ghosts and psychics make me laugh.

Laugh all you want. But my father can pick up words in my mind. No lip movements at all.

so you're saying it's your father's fault the Cubs can't win?

I don't know about curses...but at times I really think this team can't win.

When the pitching is on, the offense is off, when the offense is on, the pitching is off...no synergy, ever...

They tried throwing money at the problem...obviously it isn't working...I dunno.....if this team finishes below .500 again I'd say blow it all up.....bring in Billy Beane or a Billy Beane disciple and try that method.

QFT.

Do you live in Montgomery? I've visited and think it's far from a "flea market."

Talk about frustrating, seems like Chubs find new ways to lose every game...you can almost predict it (I actually did today after the score was 5-0). The Cubs have been the laughing stock of MLB for years (99 to be exact) and throwing money at the problem will not fix it (see Yankees).

Sweet Lou is going to find out how tough it is to win at Wrigley, he has no idea what he's in for. He'll be gone after next year.

Wrigley's a dump, blow it up and move the team to Schaumburg.

maybe someday there will be some sort of physical explanation for the inordinate amount of misfortune that has befallen the chicago cubs, maybe "curse" will be understood as simply the power of attention, of thought, and it's effect on the environment. there have been successful tests proving that electrons behave differently when observed.

even a very, very poorly run team should have lucked itself into a WS by now. call that what you will, but it's certainly strange.

as for "curses" being a word that's muttered when things don't go your way, well, not much has gone the cubs' way in the last century--in fact, anything that could go wrong has gone wrong for them. you'd like to think that similar things happen to other teams, but they don't, they just don't.

I know...Al Gore can come up with a definition for curses!

After all, he did invent the internet and most recently diagnose global warming.

The Cubs, White Sox, and Red Sox make it 3 teams who have had ridiculously long droughts. 3 is a pretty significant number, especially when over the majority of those years there were far fewer teams in the majors.

While the Cubs' drought seems almost too absurd, it hasn't been a fluke occurrence in MLB.
