Don't worry about Izzy, the cold Chicago weather is going to make him tweak his back or a hammy soon and put him on the DL.

We can hope.

I know it's early, but this is same old, same old.

I'm not believing a word about the new attitude or Lou's effect. They are still making late comebacks, only to have the 'pen blow it. Stupid errors, baserunning mistakes.

Blah.

P.S. Nice double play. 8-)

Are you guys actually shocked that a crappy pitcher is looking like Sandy Koufax against us?

No, seems like it happens all the time. I'm sure the stats show it isn't the case, but it still seems that way.

How does Izturis get an error on that? (The second one, of course)

Listening on the radio.

Because it hit him in the glove and he just dropped it. Not a great throw, but at the very least the runner at second was out. You can't assume a double play.

JJones vs RHP last year:

396ab 120h 21hr 59rbi 33bb 83k .303avg .358obp .528slg .886ops

MMurton vs RHP last year:

319ab 94h 7hr 43rbi 27bb .295avg .356obp .426slg .782ops.

Food for thought..

I'm well aware that Jones had a good year last year, at least against RHP. That's why we should have traded him in the off-season. I'm more than happy to put Murton's .350 OBP in the 2 hole against RHP or LHP.

Please stop with the Murton man crushes! I like the guy too but goodness, he'll get his chance. It's not like has been killing the ball or getting on base any other way. It's game 8.

exactly the reason he should be playing.

No it isn't. Murton isn't a lock in the lineup but he will get plenty of at bats.

the reason he may not look great is that it's game 8, which is my point. give him time means give him some plate appearances.

so far, it looks like floyd is going to get most of them.

Why does it look like Floyd is going to get most of them? They have each started the same number of games even though they have only faced 1 left-hander. That suggests Murton will get more starts, not Floyd.

the trend appears to be floyd playing more and murton playing less.

The trend? It's gone Murton/Floyd/Murton/Floyd/Murton/Murton/Floyd/Floyd. That's not much of a trend just to have two Floyd's in a row after two Murton's in a row.

Good way to salvage the two-error inning. No Astros runs scored. That's got to pump up Marquis.

I'm sensing a Lou "Heart to Heart" after this game...

and it won't make a difference because you can't yell someone into not making fielding errors.

True. But if I have to watch sucky baseball then I'd prefer a few Lou blowups just for the entertainment value. I hope he doesn't keep that stuff in the locker room.

Fair enough....Pat made it sound like it was a horrible throw.

Nope, but you can make them take extra fielding practice, something Dusty and company avoided like the plague.
