Funny, I think of the U as part of the outfield to balance out the numbers.

That way it's 5 IF, 4 OF+U

What's even funnier is that there are more infielders occupying the Utility spot than there are outfielders.

Quite a few of those 1B that nobody wants to get rid of. :D

Best IF (C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B)-

1. ME (weak at C, but potentially top 5 at the other 4 spots)

2. NSBB (most IF talent, but 3 unproven guys in the mix)

3. Quakers (best C, potential top 5 everywhere else but SS)

4. Eyes of TX (even though 3B and C are weak, his 2B outscored the now Soriano-less field by 100+, and he has Ryan Howard)

5. Lynx/Tooters- (hard to distinguish these 2, Tooters could have the top MIF with the Yank boys, Lynx underrated players all around).

Best OF and U

1. GHS (Soriano and Andruw are top 10. Fielder's good. I love Drew in Boston's lineup, if he's in it enough)

2. Tim (assuming he puts Hall here when eligible, potentially 3 top 20 guys, plus solid at U)

3. HBC (Cabrera's not OF eligible, so he doesn't count here, or he'd be #1

4-5. are just 2 close. Me (Sizemore, Crawford), Alamo (C. Lee, Vlad), Lynx (Bay, Hafner), and Quakers (Dunn, Beltran) all have 2 huge bats in the 4 positions, but question marks at the other 2. Voodoo and Buddiga have the depth and could stake claim to the 4-5 spots. For the record, I'd probably rate all these teams above my OF/U.

Best SP

1. Fuzzy (all the makings great #1, solid and young 2-5)

2. GHS (can make a case for #1, if Sheets and Hill pitch full years and Hill is as good as advertised)

3. Alamo (no clear #1, but great potential w/ Beckett, CC, Francis, Lackey)

4. Urinal (I don't like Westbrook, but I like the other 4)

5. ME (best SP in the game, some solid arms, if Patterson is a true #1 again, definitley a top 5 staff)

I disagree with the infield. I don't see how I'm not in the top 5 with Barrett, Konerko, Kent, Hanley, Aramis and Chavez at U. I have top 5-7 guys at almost every position in the infield. I'd have to put myself definitely in the top 5. I didn't think my pitching staff was that strong until I looked at everyone else's. As for OF, I'm nowhere close and agree pretty much with your thoughts.

You were in the running, but Kent was the 19th best 2B last year, and isn't likely to get better. And as good as Barrett was last year, he was only 12th in C scoring. Granted he was injured, but that's not unusual for a C. Konerko's also on the downside of his career.

I present my IF for honorable mention:

Youkilis is my worst at his position at a ranking of 22nd among first basemen. However, the other guys are no worse than top 7 at their position:

Josh Barfield (7), Furcal (7), Atkins (5) and Johjima (6)

hey, that's me, not HBC! at first glance i was wondering how i got left out.

i'm pleasantly surprised with my rotation. i feel like i got three top SP's in the draft today (smoltz, myers and bush). i'm surprised all those guys fell as far as they did, especially considering the new emphasis on pitching points. i definitely have some risky guys in there...sheets, hill, smoltz, bush and papelbon could all very likely get hurt/underachieve...but they could all be top 20 too.

I'm counting on a resurgent year from him.

Konerko's too protected in that lineup (Dye, Crede and Thome) to not have a 35 HR 110 RBI year. Barrett is going to get to hit with more guys on base this year than last, or is going to be on base and score a lot more this year with the lineup. Kent is my biggest question mark, I chose him over Giles, hope that doesn't come back to bite me.

As for my OF, Markakis and Burrell are solid. I'm interested in seeing what Kubel can do and if Mags stays healthy again, I'll get 22-25, 100 from him. Dan Johnson was a late steal and could see a lot of U this year for me if Chavez decides to blow again. The worst part of my team by far is RP. I'm totally screwed there.

For what it's worth Don.

Projected starting IF points from CBS. (not including players currently at the U position).

Eyes of TX- 2559

RAW- 2525

NSBB- 2520 (with Hall at SS)

Quakers- 2484

Lynx- 2474

Urinal Cakes- 2458

You should get the edge over Tooters, though.

Haha.. not that these projections really matter, but thanks for calculating it. I thought about it but I was entirely too lazy! :)

Agreed. CBS can be a joke at times w/ projections. I think 95% of the MLB will hit .280 with 20 HRs according to them.

On my IF, I look at it like two unproven guys with Hall filling SS for me. Given Koskie's situation, Hall could become 3B eligible pretty quickly, too.

On my OF, I don't think I'll need to start Hall over Sheff / Delmon. I have great depth there already.

On my SP, I could have the best SP or be in deep crap. At least I have a lot of arms to throw at the problem, though.
