Someone who adjusts his game plan when it clearly isnt working/adapts to changing gametime scenarios.

Which makes me wonder if the Bears aren't being cheap for a reason, ie that Lovie Smith is a Marty Shottenheimer type that can turn around a bad program but can't take it to the next level.

If the money was equal- and judging by what the Bears have offered and how far apart they claim to be it could be- I think Cowher would be the prototypical Bears headcoach, run orientated, hard nosed, etc. he looks like a Chicago guy. Jeff Fischer played for the bears. Perhaps he'd come back.

Smith. The Bears simply must pay him what he's worth and keep him. Losing a head coach that has turned the team around this quickly simply because they're unwilling to pay him is not an option.

Hehe. That's my main problem with Lovie.

But I think he'll still be the Bears coach in a few seasons.

Well the coach can STILL be Lovie and fit that description. That's what I'd like anyway

The Bears won't pony up the cash for a big time coach like Cowher.

Yeah, I think the only feasible answers there are "Lovie" or "cheap coach"...

In that case, the only feasible answer is cheap coach as Lovie Smith will be just as expensive as Fisher or Cowher if the Bears have another good season. If the Bears don't have a good season than do they bring Smith back?

Anyone surprised that Jessie Jackson hasn't found a way to get involved in all this?

not cowher, since he's going to coach Penn State when JoePa retires. Right? Anyone?

Nah....it will be either NY Giants (unfortunately, I could see the Giants offering him what he wants) or the Redskins.

Maybe he can work out a Clemens like deal and show up around 1/4th of the way into the season and only on gameday on Sunday.

Isn't that what his team did this past season?

Ha...maybe! Let's see. Go to practice on Tuesday then on Wednesday get the magic pills from the trainer.

Honestly, maybe this steroid thing is the real reason Cowher left.
