Jeremy Bonderman-S-Tigers Dec. 18 - 4:55 pm et

Jeremy Bonderman's four-year deal with the Tigers is worth $38 million, according to The Associated Press.

That's about right. Bonderman, who would have been eligible for free agency after the 2008 season, gets $4.5 million in 2007, $8.5 million in 2008 and $12.5 million in each of the following two seasons.

Oakland trades away: Franklyn German, Jeremy Bonderman, Carlos Pena

Decent trade on paper for the Yankees until Weaver immediately crapped himself upon arrival in New York. Didn't like the trade at the time for the A's, and since they turned Lilly into Bobby Kielty, it looks even worse. Tigers made out like bandits, even though Pena didn't turn out that great (still better than people thought he was, though) and German was a disappointment. Bonderman was dominating high-A ball in his first crack at it at age 19. Just didn't see why the A's would deal him.

The hilarious thing is that he'll only be 28 when this next contract is done.

Man he's going to be something. Him, Verlander, and Miller at the top of a rotation? Sick.

So was Prior, Wood, Z though...

And Isringhausen/Wilson/Pulsipher.......

That seems like a great deal for the Tigers.

It's pretty much market value. The 12.5M he'll get in his would-have-been FA years is pretty fair, and the buyout of his arbitration years is no more or less than he would've got.

We're paying Lilly like $10m, right? If I could have Bondy for $2.5m more, I'm pretty sure I'd do that. This is market value for a mediocre pitcher. Bondy has been really good and he handled himself pretty well in the playoffs too. I think it's a great deal.

I think this is a great deal for the Tigers and almost makes up for the 2.5 to Jose Mesa. I still don't get that, unless Zumaya's gonna start, and I still don't get it then, really.
