If Meche goes to the Jays, where does that leave the Cubs?

From Rotoworld:

According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, free agent Ted Lilly has told the Yankees he'd join them if they're willing to give him a four-year, $40 million contract.

Lilly can probably get $1 million more per year from the Cubs, but he'd apparently prefer to join the Bombers. It's not yet clear whether the Yankees, who would actually be paying $56 million once the luxury tax is factored in, will take him up on his offer. They may have only until tonight to decide. Funny thing is, Lilly probably isn't even a starter in the Yankees rotation.

Does he displace Randy Johnson? No

Chien-Ming Wang? No

Mike Mussina? No

Andy Pettitte if he's signed? No

Carl Pavano? Maybe

Philip Hughes? If he's ready, probably not.

But, hey....Think big and put the screws to Hendry. I'm loving it.
