Scout.com's Bill Shanks says the Braves have acquired Rafael Soriano from the Mariners for Horacio Ramirez.

Remind us again how Bill Bavasi has a job? Actually, we'll wait for added confirmation before we go off on a rant about this one.

Wow! If that is the price for starting pitching then theres no wonder trades are not going down. Soriano for a below average SP. Yikes.

WOW!! VERY IDIOTIC by the Mariners.

i dont understand this trade?... but whats up with Soriano after the Injury?

Lights out. 2.25 ERA 1.08WHIP 65K/60IP He was supposed to do something similar to Santana and eventually become a starter. This is a terrible trade for the Mariners.

well, average starting pitchers have been overvalued in free agency, and apparently it's no different on the trade market.

Then why not just move Soriano to start? That's what was supposed to happen before his injury and he seems fully recovered these days.

(Bill Shanks) . He also mentions that Atlanta is close to an Adam LaRoche for Mike Gonzalez swap.

LaRouche for Gonzalez? Good move for both teams. Braves get their closer (with a nice set up man in Soriano) and the Pirates get a young first baseman to help protect Jason Bay.

But don't look know but...the Pirates have Bay/Castillo/Sanchez/Paulino, and if the Gonzalez for LaRouche deal happens, the Pirates are building a very nice young stable of hitters.

Why would Atlanta trade for another pitcher when they have fat man and now Soriano?

Rotoworld:

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal says the Mariners and Braves are talking about a swap of Rafael Soriano and Horacio Ramirez.

Scout.com's Bill Shanks reported that it was a done deal. Rosenthal doesn't go that far, but it's obviously a legitimate rumor. The Mariners would be crazy to make this trade without getting a second quality player in return. Soriano is a health risk, but he's also one of baseball's best relievers when he's on. Ramirez is a No. 4 starter.

Why don't you ask the Braves that?

Don't forget Bautista and Nady.
