Bonds would be completely insane to turn away the Cubs because Prior or Zambrano beaned him. The idea is completely ridiculous. The guy wants to see strikes and you can bet he'd see many more with Lee, Ramirez and Soriano around. I'd go Soriano, Bonds, Lee, Ramirez myself.

If the Cubs got Bonds and won it all. I'd feel like I sold my soul to the devil to get a WS.

It's would be like Damn Yankees in real life.

he's a jerk to be sure, but if its steroids that bothers you, I think we better start admitting he is just the tip of the iceberg.

Bonds has played his entire career in the NL. He's very hung-up on his stats, I don't think he'll want to split up his numbers across leagues. Just like Maddux insisted on NL-teams only, I wouldn't be surprised if Bonds feels the same way.

If he doesn't return to the Giants, what team do I fear he'll sign with? The Cardinals. They have the money, they have the need.

after the way Z and Prior have thrown at Bonds and shown him up, what makes you think he would want to come here?

I don't think Bonds cares if his teammates like him.

Yeah but wouldnt Z and Prior care if he's coming?

>_> What if we got both Bonds and Sosa.

screw the cubs if they even think about it

i wonder if schmidt likes him.

here's a scenario:

what if signing bonds would prevent us from acquiring schmidt (because of personal, not financial reasons). Which would you prefer?

Chalk me up for schmidt, though I'd love to see barry in cubbie blue.

Yeah, so? This would excuse what exactly, in your mind?

I love that argument - hey, he wasn't the only one cheating, so let's get in on the fun. If you can't beat em' join em', eh?

I very much want the Cubs to win - but I don't want to win that badly. If the Cubs aren't going to win b/c they won't sign Bonds, so be it.

And, BTW, I have no problem with outing each and every user. My ire is not directed at Bonds individually.

"We want some left-handed hitting help, and that could come in a variety of areas," Hendry said. "Our priority might not be what position; it's a matter of getting left-handed hitting."

Hendry as of yesterday.

I do.

If we're going to try to get a few hundred plate appearances from some old, declining LH hitter, I wouldn't mind Barry.

I think his point is that if you're going to stop liking the Cubs if they sign a steroid user, you (not you specifically) probably shouldn't like the Cubs at all as they are now since they (like just about every other team) have most likely already had a few players use performance enhancing drugs of some sort.

Brilliant!

I really cannot believe he still has a job.

I don't mind old, declining LH-hitters. I mind cheaters.
