This thread has taken a strage turn, but anyways, I'll just say this.

 

I have never seen any reason to doubt Prior's passion or his character. As far as I'm concerned, he is simply battling a lingering issue -- one possibly brought on by poor management and/or poor medical attention.

 

I think he babies himself too much, and flinches at the first twinge he feels anywhere along his right arm. And this can indeed cause real problems down the road. It's a lot like a football player trying to play at less than full speed. You're trying to avoid injury, and in so doing.......you get injured.

 

You seem to be contradicting yourself. At first he "babies himself," being bothered by even a slight pain . . . and then he's out there playin' hurt? Is he a "gamer" or a "j.d. Drew" ?

It isn't a contradiction. He is saying that Prior coddling his elbow could cause injury, probably because trying to play in an unnatural way would cause him to alter his mechanics.

 

Honestly, I don't think anyone at NSBB is qualified to say exactly what Prior's condition is, or whether he has mental issues, unless that person happens to be a doctor or pitching coach who has personally examined Prior. I doubt that he doesn't want to play, but any speculation is just that, speculation.
