Depending on who else they're asking for, I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. Would the Marlins do Pie, Marshall and Wuertz for Willis?

why even suggest this since hendry stated that he is not trading pie?

the marlins would make out like bandits if hendry were dumb enough to try this deal out anyway.

You're right, whatever a GM states is always 100% true. I'm sure Hendry hangs his phone up as soon as some other GM mentions Pie's name. I bet Cashman does the same thing when someone mentions Arod's name. I won't suggest any more trades that include Pie until Hendry comes out and says he's trying to trade him.

First off, the Cubs can't trade Pie until they find a starting OF for 2007.

Second, when was the last time we heard Hendry say someone was untouchable and then he went out and traded them? If anything, Hendry has been overconservative in not dealing his top prospects.

When did he state that Pie was untouchable? I've read that Rich Hill is untouchable, but not Pie. Felix Pie in no way should be untouchable.

Phil Rogers"] The Rockies have had some talks with the Cubs about pitcher Jason Jennings but want Rich Hill, whom scouts believe has the same skill set as a young Zito. He's an untouchable.

Mike Berardino & Juan C. Rodriguez"]

Meanwhile, Cubs GM Jim Hendry says the team is not dealing touted outfield prospect Felix Pie, another player on the Marlins' wish list.

Who are we not trading Pie to the Marlins for?

not dealing = untouchable

If Hendry is completely unwilling to include Pie in any deal(which I don't believe he is) then Jim Hendry = idiot.

The Marlins just know Hendry is a dunce and are trying to play him again.

Yeah, I'm sure they're still laughing after they were able to steal Hee Seop Choi for only Derek Lee.

The Rockies reportedly asked for Rich Hill from the Cubs in conversations about Jason Jennings.

Although Hill is turning 27 in March and still has only about two months of major league success to his credit, the Cubs have no intention of parting with him in any deal. He'll be a part of the 2007 rotation.

Rich Hill in Coors doesn't bring up any comforting images. Ouch.
