Apparently, Bill Clement reported on his NHL XM Radio show that Vandermeer is going to be dealt to the Flyers for Kyle Calder. Just a rumor at this point, not sure of it's credibility yet.

Calder's had an awful year so far. Only 3 goals and a +- of -17. That's abysmal. I'd like to keep Vandermeer, but I'd trade Cullimore in a heartbeat for Calder.

No one wants Cullimore, especially a team that's trading for the future like Philly. Vandy's under contract I believe, Calder will be a UFA. The most interesting part of the deal is that Vandy was with Philly last (Zhamnov trade I believe), and obviously Calder was here. I don't know if I make that deal, I loved Calder when he was here, but I want a guy who can put the puck in the net. Watching Havlat is making me greedy.

I'd like to start dealing off some of these young defensemen. We've got Seabrook, Keith, Kukkonen, Barker, Richmond, Wisniewski, Byfuglien. Unfortunately, the ones who could likely bring us top notch scoring help are the two I don't want to trade (Barker, Seabrook). Kukkonen seems to be a very solid defensemen all around, Keith can fly, Wiz and Byf probably don't have that much value because they haven't had much NHL experience. I know Richmond projects well, but I haven't seen much of him either. The Hawks defensemen remind me of the Cubs pitching. A couple overpaid vets (Cullimore, Aucion) and a good number guys with potential who might not get a shot.

Hawks hang on to win it, 3-2. The Flames are more than likely going to win, so we'll still be 4 points out of 8th.

Dead Wings at the UC on Thursday. That should be interesting.

5-0-3 under Savard now, at least a point in eight straight games. Can't ask for much more than that. Bondra has a shot at his 500th goal against Detroit, I think he's going to be valuable for this team: great shot from the point on the PP, still good speed and still a dangerous scorer. Good to see the PP finally get it going, in a big way. Khabibulin still playing strong as well.

.500 now! 12-12-5.

Man! When those goals came, they came quick!

Havlat/Bondra accounting for 2/3 goals last night. Finally some good personnel moves.

Last night was one of those games that good teams win. I'm not saying the Hawks are there yet, but they played a listless, uninspired hockey game for about 55 minutes. But they managed to fight through it, put together a quick burst of scoring and beat a bad team that was playing with slightly more effort due to the firing of their coach.

It showed something, but they have to keep it going to get some buzz going and get people out to the UC.

Technically, they're 12-17, and have 5 games to go to .500. A true .500 record probably makes the playoffs, though.

With those extra five points, they would be in, as of today.

Just the same, they are in the hunt and need to keep it up. I also wouldn't mind seeing Tallon pick up another good two-way offensive player or two. There are still a few guys that are getting a lot of ice time (*cough* Karl Stewart *cough*, to name one) who could be upgraded by the deadline.

Stewart may not have much offensive talent, but when he's on the ice he hits everything in sight. I think he helps the Hawks in that regard because we don't have a lot of physical players outside of guys like Ruutu, Lapointe.

Stupid finals made me miss the game tonight, how'd they look?

I didn't watch the game but I did hear some of it on the radio and it seemed that they had a lot of scoring opportunities but did not score. Hasek was also very good last night it seemed.

Was working and still working on my thesis due later today, but I checked the box score and we didn't convert on any of our power plays and they said Hasek played an amazing game.

I saw this one. The Hawks have nothing to be ashamed of in this one. They pretty much outplayed the Wings in all 3 periods. They came up with a boatload of scoring chances, but Hasek was the reason Detroit came out with a win. A very good effort and an exciting game all-around.

I'm going to the game tomorrow against Colorado. I won tickets on the Hawks website, anyone know if they give away good seats or not usually?

I only caught the second half of tonights game, so I missed most of the goals, but it seems like a good rivalry is brewing between the Hawks and Jackets
