When glancing through Rotoworld, I found this bit from the San Diego Union-Tribune:

In 2002, Cubs General Manager Jim Hendry told the Padres he was interested in hiring Bochy. Padres GM Kevin Towers told Hendry that Bochy wasn't going anywhere. The Cubs, who still have Hendry as their GM, are still interested in Bochy and this offseason likely will be hiring a manager to replace Dusty Baker. One Cubs official said Bochy would be his first choice if something can be worked out. Bochy is guaranteed about $1.9 million in 2007. If the season ended today, the Padres would have consecutive playoff berths for the first time.

I don't see this happening. Bochy apparantly doesn't seem very likely to leave and Towers doesn't want him to leave. The two have a good relationship.

Why would he leave San Diego?

I thought I read that a lot of Padres people wanted out, or were hinting about leaving, including Bochy.

Hey Jim! There's an unemployed manager who won his division four out of five years! Please take a look at him!

If Dierker does get the job I think he owes you a commission check.

If Dierker gets it, that will be satisfaction enough.
