Strangely, even though I've been extremely indifferent about the Cubs this summer, and even though I haven't watched a full Cubs game in about 3 months, and even though I hate this team with every ounce of my body....I am a bit sad that this is the last weekend of the year.

I love the game and while I don't necessary feel sad the the Cubs season is over, I know I will once the world series is done. It's been a bad year since May so my favorite team hasn't really been a part of the season, but the season goes on. The pennant chase in both of the central divisions is fantastic this year.

The early offseason should be interesting with the manager search anyhow.

Larry Dierker, plz.

meh....I'm so burned out on Dusty and his BS. Girardi is my target and I don't know much about the guy from Atl (Gonzalez?).

Curious, why?

I haven't read his book

Find the thread that I posted back in July or August.

He has some great philosphies. Not too old school, but since he was a player he has more credibility than others who might try a more stats based way of making decisions.

Furthermore, I like any manager who knows how to use a run expectancy chart to assist decisions.

This is the first game I've watched since about June. I bet I have only seen about 10 Cubs games this season. Maybe next year will be better.

I won't miss baseball at least until college football is over but likely not until the NFL is done.

I won't miss baseball for a very long time. When a sport is run by so many willfully ignorant people, and your team is handicapped by the worst of the bunch, it's not hard to lose interest.

Pitcher usage is a little scary but when you couple that with the idea of the pitcher being "effective" it makes a lot of sense.

OBP and slugging? Hendry won't hire him because he doesn't understand all these "acronyms".

Z really wanted to break the bat.

See usually I miss baseball a lot and usually I have much more interest for the game of baseball outside the Cubs. But the Cubs have been so woefully bad, that they've killed my interest for the rest of the game. This winter, I am actually more excited for Bears and Bulls season, that the Cubs season will only be missed slightly, mainly because Cubs season reminds me of long days and warm weather.
