I believe I heard Lee dropped the relay on a potential DP - but that isn't an error, right?

Not an error, a low throw by Theriot, but the DP had to be turned quickly. It's a pick DLee usually makes, but didn't (and I think he'd say the same).

Guaranteed, Dusty points out that play as a critical mistake by Theriot and remains silent about the pathetic D of Bynum, Lee and Izzy.

Yep. It was a tough play, but it's one he usually makes.

It looks to me like he's quit out there.

You can't assume a double play.

Yeah, that's what I thought - but I wasn't sure I heard right because I'm listening to Rick Monday over a rather staticy radio.

has anybody started a "worst game of the season" thread? it shoudl be done, and this may just get some votes

It'd be tough to top losing on a sac fly that scores a runner from second.

i was always thinking of that game when we got skunked by the marlins as nolasco shut us out and had a homer. i assume juan went 0-5 with ground outs to complete the irony

There isn't an error on the runner being safe at first, but since a run scores because the ball got away, I believe they can charge an error on the play.

Wasn't the runner at third? (Forgive me if I'm wrong, the radio is cutting in and out - and now Frank Sinatra is singing louder than Rick Monday is broadcasting.)

Good thing Bynum & Cedeno are still battling away!

What makes this all the more hilarious (for those who aren't watching) is that the error charged to JD Drew on what should have been a Theriot triple down the line was ludicrous.

On the bright side, Ron Santo appears to be taking this all in stride.

Sure, he's screamed and raised his blood pressure a few times, but at least he didn't doesn't sound like somebody shot his grandmother.

Sportsline:

Ball, Strike (foul tip), Strike swinging, Martin reached on fielder's choice to shortstop, Lofton scored, Betemit out at second

It wasn't scored an error ... but Sportsline also has one of Bynum's errors in the 1st inning charged to Pierre, so it's not the most accurate source.
