aside from numbers...watching Bynum on the field at times..I think he is borderline [expletive].

From getting picked off first by a righty with an average move, brutal baserunning, and miscues at 2B, he exhibits stupidity on the field. He is simply a guy who is athletic trying to play baseball. Trying...the key word.

My wife, who endures the Cubs atrocities with me, says "Dee de dee" everytime she sees him. While that may not be very funny, for a woman who is not at all funny, its hilarious.

Please understand that what is being made light of here is a very serious issue to others. I hate to be the thought police. But if you were speaking directly to someone who you knew had a mentally challenged family member, you would never make those comments in front of them.

Well...when speaking on a public forum you have to believe that someone out there is going to be in just that kind of situation.

Sorry. Lecture over. Carry on.

I edited my post...I understand your point.

I was just trying to find a way to describe Bynum's stuididty on the field.

Its like he drinks a 1/5h of Vodka and puts on a uniform.

Remember the game in San Diego (right about when the skid started, just after the Dodger series when Lee went down) when he dropped the pop fly to left? Just dropped it. Brant Brown like?

Those were good times.

I like Theriot better, but primarily cuz he's homegrown. And I just dont understand why Hendry picks up these rre-treads off the scrap heap when he has the exact plyer (or better prospect-Fontenot) in the minors. I just dont get it. Bynum gets the brunt of my anger for that. not fair, but screw it, life aint fair.

You may have a good point about Fontenot. His minor league numbers look pretty solid, I wouldn't mind having him up now over Theriot and Bynum.

My wife has a mentally [expletive] sister. She would not usually make that mistake. I'd use stronger language.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but what is that video in your signature? Even without sound that's funny.

i'd rather see theriot play but if we see tham as even why does bynum play 4-5 straight days and theriot gets a bone once in a while?

at this point i could care less but it would be nice to see if someone could play or if we need to go get a 2b for next season...

i am really tired of the cubs putting stock in youngsters for teh next season but not trying to find out if they can actually play at this level..see dubois, jason.

let's find out if one of these guys can be in our plans...same with pie. play them somewhere almost everyday. letting a guy pinch hit down 5 in the 7th does not give you much of an idea if he can play or not

They are going on a straight platoon for Bynum/Theriot right now. I also think they are about the same player, and I would agree with you also that they should get equal time instead of a straight platoon. Platoons are nice for a team that is contending (because you might get maximum value out of the position) but we don't need maximum value right now. What we do need is to see what both of them can do, and exposing them to pitchers from either side helps in doing that. It's probably an open competition at this point between Cedeno/Theriot/Bynum for a bench slot next year, so it needs to be known what each player actually can do.
