Great result for Liverpool. They can win at Chelsea and at Arsenal . . . but can't beat newly promoted teams at Anfield (Swansea, Norwich). Hmm . . . four road wins already is a great start, just need to start taking care of business at home.

With Houston's lack of speed up top, Omar Gonzalez was able to totally shut them down at every turn. The fact that Ching & Co are slower than slow not withstanding, big O was brilliant.

With Beckham gone I'm excited for a Galaxy team I can enjoy watching. Best non-Cascadia organization in the league and I like well-run MLS clubs that shell out for players. I just can't stand the whole Beckham deal.

@GrantWahl About to hop on a plane, but look soon for my SI.com piece: Taylor Twellman in, John Harkes out of ESPN soccer booth in 2012.

City is in trouble in the Champions League after losing 2-1 to Napoli today. If Napoli beats Villareal in the last group game, City would finish third. That would be glorious.

Also, City at best will finish second in their group. That means if they do advance, there will be a 40% chance they'll draw either Barcelona or Real Madrid in the Round of 16. That number goes up to 50% if ManU manages to win their group (this isn't likely since Benfica would have to lose to or tie Otelul Galati (0-5 in the UCL).

City finishing third would be the best case scenario but them facing Real or Barca would be a close second.

What the [expletive] is this [expletive]. Time to severe ties with Nike if these are legit. It's going to look like a [expletive] Where's Waldo festival.

Another good weekend for Tottenham. They beat West Brom 3-1 (that's now 28 points picked up out of a possible 30 in their last 10 games) while Arsenal tied thanks to a Vermaelen brace and ManU tied Newcastle. They're now all alone in third and only two points back of ManU with a game in hand.

Big night for my favourite soccer team; trailing 3-0 with 15 minutes to go, Club Bruges staged an epic comeback at Maribor (Slovenia) to win 3-4 and preserve their chances to go through to the next round of the Europa League. :yahoo:

Tottenham lost at home to PAOK Salonika today and is all but out of the Europa League. They gave up two goals in the first 15 minutes and couldn't capitalize on a man advantage for the last 50 minutes.

Also, ManU is down 2-1 in extra time to Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup right now. They're just about to start the second extra time period.

EDIT: Palace holds on at Old Trafford.

Euro draws in 2 hours 38 minutes.

Spain-Germany-Portugal-France would be amazing.

I have a feeling that somehow Germany is going to find themselves in Poland's group, mysteriously.

I'm hoping Holland can draw Russia, Greece, and Denmark. Its too bad England and Germany are in the same pot, I love seeing them match up at this stage.

On the bright side being in Amsterdam when they play Germany will be badass. Losing to them won't be.

Collective insanity hits the Netherlands whenever they play Germany. Go to Museum Square to watch the game on the big screens.
