WGN 720 reporting that Scott Eyre was placed on the 15-day DL with the hamstring injury he suffered last night in order to make room for O'Malley.

I'm guessing that either Wood or Bynum had to be placed on the 60-day DL as well to clear a 40-man roster spot for O'Malley. Both have passed 60 days already.

From the game thread.

O'Malley features a mid-80s FB, a slider and a circle change.

Ugh. We could wind up seeing that mid-80's FB hitting that short LF porch at the Juice Box several times tonight. Not agood place to give him his first ML action, IMO.

There were only 39 people on the 40-man roster because Miller is on the 60-day DL.

Interesting that Williams or Ryu wasn't recalled...

I think it was a matter of finding the guy who had the appropriate rest.

So O'Malley was a winner by default. Kinda like Girardi making the All Star team a few yrs back.

Exactly. Williams just pitched on Sunday (and got torched), and Ryu pitched on Monday. They just weren't available yet.

Maybe they wanted a lefty.

Hamstring? That's what they're saying? I thought it was pretty obvious that he pulled some fat in his rear end.
I'd rather have a heavy guy with talent than a skinny guy with no talent.
