Houston TV announcers say Barrett should be moved to another position because he's so bad defensively.

Note to Houston guys:

Barrett has already been 2 wins better than Brad Ausmus this year.

I doubt they think Ausmus is anywhere the same player that Barrett is. As somebody who values defense a great deal, it still doesn't make even close to the difference between a .930 OPS and a .586 OPS. Could it have been that they think Barrett could be average at another position defensively and still have that big bat? I'm still not sure it's worth it-to have offense at a position where offense is so scarce is still so valuable.

Offense at a non-offensive position is only an advantage if you have offensive players in offensive positions.

It's still an advantage-it allows you flexibility at some of the other positions-for example, Barrett's bat behind the plate might mean that we need a big bat for only one of left field and second (preference being second because left is the much better bat right now anyway), and not both.

Z will get plunked at the top of the next inning.

Oswalt isn't that stupid.

I dunno he strikes me as a dumb hick...I think he will.

Get ya popcorn ready :)

What is with these teams tonight? The Cubs aren't usually very patient, but they are not big first pitch swingers-but they are tonight. The Astros have gotten partially into the act though.

The Cubs are 3-8 in putting the first pitch in play through 4 innings

The Astros are 1-4 through 3 innings.

That's not usual even for this team. So far, it's working pretty well though.

What do you know, another guy takes an extra base on Juan's arm.

that's not something that happens every day

Well yeah, the Cubs do have offdays. But once every gameday and twice on Sundays.
