Izturis is still learning the infield. Give him time.

So, for Greg Maddux and $12 million or so over the next three years, we get a guy who is learning how to hit AND field?

Kill me now.

He's an excellent fielder... one error doesn't change that.

But, his hitting sucks.

Be patient. He's an Omar Vizquel just waiting to happen.

Actually it has already happened, and we're just too foolish to recognize because we've never played the game, or don't watch enough games, or don't appreciate the finer parts of his game, or something.

My apologies. I'm always so close-minded.

He'll drive in runs with his glove.

20 or 80 every game.

I just don't understand why other teams just don't set up their rotations against the Cubs, by having three lefties schedule. I mean, it doesn't take a rocket-scientist to figure that out. If every team for the rest of the yr, threw lefties in every game against the Cubs, I seriously doubt the Cubs would win another ballgame this yr.

With that said, Zach Duke is going tomorrow, so that is pretty guarantee a win for the Pirates. Now the Pirates need to do a pitching change for Sunday, and pull out Snell and put Paul Malholm in his place, and a SWEEP is guarantee.

Not sure if you're being serious or not, but rearranging rotations to match up with competition is something that would give teams an advantage, but no team has the guts or vision to do it.

MLB coaching/management is almost as conservative and copycat as NFL coaching/management. No one wants to deviate from the norm.

Amazing that the Cobs can do a 4 game sweep against the Cards and then get smothered by pathetic teams like the D-Backs and Pirates. WTF, Cobs. Please learn to get up for the rest of the games on the schedule aside from those against the Deadbirds.

Baseball coaching/management is much more conservative than the NFL. Otherwise you'd still see the wishbone and no forward pass in the NFL.

The Cubs need a manager who will light a fire under them, someone like Larry Bowa, Lou Piniella, or Les Brown.

I'm a Bears fan. May I inquire as to what this "forward pass" thing is?

Well, the DBacks are leading the wild card. However, I'd say 15 of the 16 teams in the NL are pathetic.

I think there are regulations about that, actually.

You couldn't be more wrong, sir.

Dodgers manager Grady Little said of Izturis, "Even on nights when he doesn't get any hits, it's like he's driving in runs with his glove. That means as much to us as a guy hitting .350."

And the Cubs did split with them.

I learn something every day I read these boards.

That quote is an example of why Dodger fans refer to Grady Little as Brainy Little.

I was half-joking/half-serious, to be honest.

I heard a rumor that the Bears tried this "forward pass" a few years ago. But I believe the "pass" slipped from the QB's hand and went BACKWARDS ten yards, before it was recovered. I can't confirmed tho.

No, it's not unbelievable, it's totally believable.
