I may be going to the West Tenn at Carolina game tomorrow night to watch Gallagher pitch. It depends on the weather, which sounds iffy. The high is supposed to be about 96, with a cold front coming through late tomorrow resulting in a good chance of afternoon and evening storms, some potentially strong to severe. Hopefully they'll stay away during gametime.

Billy Petrick gets a 1-2-3 top of the 1st (2 flyouts and then a strikeout).

In the bottom of the 1st, Daytona scores on a Nate Spears double, a Joe Simokaitis bunt single and then a Jeff Culpepper force out.

And Petrick gets a 1-2-3 2nd inning.

Daytona leads 1-0 in the middle of the 2nd. Petrick: 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, K

Disaster strikes in the 3rd inning as Carolina regains the lead, 4-3.

40-pitch inning for Gallagher

Mudcats bat around on 3 errors, 3 hits, 1K, 1BB.

Eric Patterson commits two errors, one fielding and one throwing. He also committed an error in the 1st inning, so he has 3 errors so far in the game.

Gary Cates is charged with an error on a relay throw.

I think all 4 runs are unearned. Gallagher may be done for the evening, though, as Carlos Vasquez is warming in the bullpen.

Mudcats announcers note that Eric Patterson looks depressed about the errors and rave about how Corey played at that ballpark. They're critical of Gallagher not picking up his teammates by getting the 3rd out before surrendering the lead. Sounds to me like it's incredibly hot and sticky there, so I suspect it was more an issue of getting worn down having to get 6 outs.

4-3 Mudcats to the bottom of the 4th

Now Carlos Vasquez has been pulled in the middle of an at-bat with an apparent injury. Announcers just said he didn't look comfortable out there, nothing obvious to report.

Carmen Pignatiello replaces him.

And I'm out for the evening. :)

Have fun..

Daytona up 4-0 in the bottom of the 5th. Petrick having a real good start: 5 IP, 5 hits, 0 ER's, 0 BB's, 5 K's. Simokaitis is 3/3, Alan Rick is 2 for 2 with a double. Ciaramella has added 2 RBI's and Nate Spears has added a double.

Jaxx down 4-3 in the bottom of the 5th..Pignatiello on, as Serena mentioned.

Peoria up 3-0 in the 4th. Yepez through 3: 3 hits, 0 ER's, 2 BB's, 3 K's. Valdez is 2/2 and Garcia has a double and 2 RBI's.

Iowa is tied at 1 in the bottom of the 5th. Walrond has pitched 5, allowing just 2 hits, 1 ER, 0 BB's, and 4 K's. The one run came on a homer. Iowa only has one hit; a leadoff single by Felix to start the game. He then stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a wild pitch, and scored on a sac fly by Hoffpauir. Since then, there's hardly been any offense at Des Moines.

And now I'm out :)

I went to the Jaxx game at Carolina tonight. I took some pictures, which I'll post within the next few days (after I've had a chance to edit and upload them). I thought Gallagher looked really good in the first two innings, getting the first two batters out each inning before allowing a runner in each (Patterson's first error in the 1st, a base hit in the 2nd). He then got the third out in both innings without any more errors. Then the wheels came off in the third. After getting the first out by striking out the pitcher, Patterson's second error, followed by a base hit, resulted in two runners on. The next batter hit what should have been an inning-ending double play, but after getting the lead runner out, Patterson's third error allowed the first run to score and the batter went to second. From there, Gallagher was hit hard and wound up giving up four unearned runs. The Jaxx tied it at 4-4 in the top of the 7th, when Walker drove in a run with a two-out bunt hit. Carolina took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the 7th and could have scored more, but Holdzkom relieved Atlee and slammed the door despite coming in with the bases loaded and none out. The Jaxx tied it again, 5-5, in the top of the 9th, when Sing hit into a run-scoring fielder's choice. Neither team scored again until the bottom of the 13th, although the Jaxx had their chances. In the 10th Lewis was thrown out at home trying to score from second on a single, and in the 11th Sing was picked off first after reaching on a single. Brownlie pitched two scoreless innings, then batted for himself with two out in the top of the 13th, but gave up the winning run with one out in the bottom of the 13th. All in all it was an entertaining game to watch, but disappointing to lose a game like that when you're fighting for a playoff spot.

BA's Weekend Dish[/url]"]• Speaking of not-so-hot weekends, Double-A West Tenn second baseman Eric Patterson had a rough night Friday, committing three errors in the field. Things weren't any better at the plate, as Patterson went 0-for-6. It was rather uncharacteristic for the 2004 eighth-round pick out of Georgia Tech, who carries a .973 fielding percentage (14 errors in 517 total chances) and is hitting .268/.338/.418 in 395 at-bats this season overall.
