Couple of people are telling me that Milwaukee will aquire a middle infielder and a veteran starting pitcher within the night or by tommorrow. Supposedly Melvin said this in a radio interview not long ago also. The closest thing to a link I can find is this http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=ml-brewers&msg=16393.1&ctx=0, but someone I know said that the Brewers announcers also mentioned this before the game (i'm not sure if it is radio or tv).FWIW Daron and Bill are the announcers names. Some were speculating it would be Maddux, though i'm not sure why they would aquire him after trading C-Lee, unless they think they really got the good end of that trade. Just throwing out what i'm hearing.

Edit: Someone just confirmed this on a Milwaukee Bucks board too, here's the link.http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=551408&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I doubt it's for Maddux though, but you never know.

Another Edit: The announcer just said the middle infielder they are close to aquiring is David Bell from Philly.

Bell doesn't seem to make much sense for them, but what do I know.

Brewers' announcers are making it seem like it's pretty much a done deal and they're just waiting until the 2 games are over tonight. They just talked to Melvin and he wouldn't confirm that Bell was being traded, but obviously a GM can't confirm a trade rumor if the guy they're trading for is still in the Phillies' lineup playing right now.

Absolutely nothing to do with the trade rumors, but Damion Miller is a stud. He just took an absolute beating from Dunn who was barreling down on him trying to score, but Miller hung on to the ball to record the out at home. You'll see it on Sportscenter later.

Doug Melvin was just on BBTn and said there was one more deal that looked like it was going to go through, and he is working the phones this weekend...Hmmm...

Miller will always be my favorite catcher. I was very dissapointed when the Cubs traded him. A true leader on and off the field.

Brewers traded P Wilfredo Liriano to the Phillies for 3B David Bell

Yep. Looks like it's a done deal. Brewer's announcers just mentioned it.

So Bell, when is he a FA? Hitting .278 with less than 10 HR's is not your ideal 3rd basemen.

I believe he's a free agent next year. Just a rental for the Brewers with Koskie on the DL.

He is a free agent at the end of this season. He is just a rental because both Koskie and Weeks are hurt.

I also heard them talking last night about an infielder and a name pitcher. Obviously Bell was the infielder. I wonder if they will make a move for Maddux after the Cubs game today. It's hard to imagine a team 7 games under .500 and 6.5 out of the Wild Card (and behind Florida and others) sees themselves as buyers, but why else would they pull the Bell trade?
