Idaho Statesman"]Pitcher Billy Petrick was promoted to Daytona, Fla., on Monday. Petrick (5-0) struck out five and walked none in 52/3 innings in Sunday's 5-3 win over Yakima.

The Petrick Fan Club should be happy! :)

EDIT: All transactions related to the Petrick promotion posted below.

Who takes Petrick's place? Are they going to reactivate Muldowney?

I hope so. You never know with those pesky "precautionary" injuries. Maybe call up Taylor Parker from Mesa?

Or maybe Darin Downs? I think he's been MIA for awhile now as well.

He's on Mesa's roster but hasn't played.

Daytona Beach News-Journal Online"]In addition to Teasley, the Cubs added right-handed pitchers Billy Petrick and Ryan Bicondoa to the roster. Petrick was at Boise, while Bicondoa was with an independent team. Outfielder Aron Weston and right-handed pitcher Lincoln Holdzkom were promoted to Double-A West Tenn. Righty Roberto Sotolongo was demoted to Peoria and left-hander Phil Norton was released by the organization.

The Holdzkom and Weston stuff was posted in a previous thread, but Norton being cut, Sotolongo being demoted to Peoria and the addition of Bicondoa are new. This means Petrick should make his 2006 Daytona debut on Friday.

OurSportsCentral"]Spirit starter Bicondoa sold to Cubs

According to Ryan Bicondoa, "positive thoughts lead to positive places". It stands to reason that Bicondoa must have been Mr. Brightside in the Spirit locker room this season, because the Can-Am League announced today that his contract had been sold to the Chicago Cubs.

While losing Bicondoa is a blow to the Spirit rotation, the team in nonetheless happy to see one of its own heading to the next level.

"I want to thank Ryan for his numerous contributions to North Shore Spirit baseball and wish him great success. He's an excellent baseball player but an even better young man- we were proud to have him wear our uniform," said Spirit owner Nick Lopardo.

Bicondoa was 6-0 for the Spirit this season with a minuscule earned run average of 1.57. He had recorded 63 strikeouts in just 57 innings of work. Bicondoa led the league in ERA, and he was tied for first in shutouts, tied for second in wins, and third in strikeouts.

"I'm definitely excited," said Bicondoa. "What I want to do is make it to the big leagues and this is a good opportunity. It's also kind of bittersweet, though, because I've made a lot of good friends here. Leaving is really hard, but hopefully I can make the North Shore proud," he said.

Bicondoa was a three-time selection as Can-Am League Pitcher of the Week in 2006. He pitched two scoreless innings as the starting pitcher for the Can-Am League in last week's All-Star game versus the American Association in El Paso, TX.

In addition to Bicondoa, the Cubs also purchased the contract of New Jersey Jackals starter Isaac Pavlik. Both pitchers will report to Daytona of the Florida State League. Bicondoa and Pavlik ironically pitched against one another this past Friday with Bicondoa coming out on top in an 8-4 North Shore victory.

Bah, Billy Petrick was placed on the DL Saturday.

Or maybe Darin Downs? I think he's been MIA for awhile now as well.

Apparently Darin was supposed to start the season in Peoria but had a "freaky" rib cage injury that forced him to miss a chunk of the season. He was sent to Boise once healthy, but got hurt again. He's on rehab right now in Mesa and should finish the year with Boise...for the third straight season.
