Rangers, Mariners and/or Tigers Interested in Walker?

According to CBS.Sportsline (via the Trib) the Rangers, Mariners, and Tigers are all interested in Todd Walker. Why would Texas do this with Kinsler there? Could we get Kinsler back for Walker and EPatt? Thoughts?

From looking at the splits, I bet they would want Walker to play against certain right handers and to be the first guy off the bench otherwise. I know that the CBS Sportsline rumor about the Tigers had Walker going there just to become a bench player, so that might be true of the Rangers as well. I can't see them trading Kinsler for that pair, but contending teams sometimes do strange things, I guess.

LH bat off the bench.

I don't know that I agree with that. Walker is an everyday player, and would add a solid and steady bat to that lineup. He'd do the same in Seattle or Detroit as well. If I were Hendry (and I somehow doubt that Hendry is this astute any longer) I'd set up deals with both Texas and Seattle and see if one was willing to outbid the other.

Regardless, Texas could use him in the lineup every day, and Kinsler would be my beginning asking price (I'd of course throw in money and/or a prospect).

I think they should get him, just so he could be known as "Walker, Texas Ranger" maybe he could even get his own T.V. show.

You may want to hide, I saw the bad joke police around here earlier.

I know it was bad, but I couldn't resist. I actually was surprised you hadn't posted something similar. :)

Walker is not an everyday player on a contending team. At least not one with its regulars healthy.

I wish he was too, but we really need to admit that he isn't.

I doubt it. I would be more than happy to get Thomas Diamond for Walker though.

According to mlbtraderumors.com

Mariners Trade Rumor: Todd Walker

According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Mariners are scouting the Cubs' Todd Walker.

Walker would be platooned with Eduardo Perez at DH and would be used against right-handed pitching. From 2003-05, Walker has batted .290/.346/.458 against right-handers. The 33 year-old impending free agent makes $2.5MM this season. The Cubs have been trying to trade him since spring training.

Their scouts have to be pretty disappointed if they have been going to the games this week in hope of seeing Walker.

Oops  , just saw the Rangers thread. Maybe this can be combined with it?

If I were you, I'd be wary of a roundhouse kick to the face sometime soon.

Not that it will do you any good.
