Theriot's RBI double makes it 4-0.

And then a Pie bomb!

Iowa won game 1, 13-6. After Guzman, Walrond went an inning and 2/3's allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, 0 BB's, and struck out 1. Pignatiello pitched a scoreless 7th allowing 1 hit, and striking out 1. Pie went 3/4 with a single, a double, a HR, 2 RBI's, and 2 run's scored. Restovich was 1/3 with a HR, 3 RBI's, 1 BB, and 3 runs scored. Jose Reyes was 2/4 with a double, 2 RBI's, and a run scored. Hoffpauir and Fontenot were each 2/3 with a walk for both of them. Hoffpauir added an RBI. Buck Coats was 2/4 with a run scored. Deardorff was 1/3 with a double and 2 RBI's. Theriot was 1/5 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.

Obviously a lot of offense for the I-Cubs in game 1. Let's hope the offense is just as good in game 2.

Peoria lost 4-0. Samardzija definitely settled down after the 1st, but took the loss. Muller pitched 2 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run. Rayborn pitched a scoreless 8th, only allowing 1 hit. Peoria only had 5 hits: Carter and Chirinos had doubles, and Garcia, Reynolds, and Lilly had singles.

Won't it be a little tough on the Iowa staff to have a double header on the same day they lose two of their top relievers to the big league team?

Minor league doubleheaders are 7 inning games, so they aren't as bad.

Pie doubled following a strikeout by Williams to start the 5th. After a Fontenot K, Buck Coats walked, which set up Restovich hitting a 3-run homer to give Iowa a 7-0 lead :D

Iowa wins game 2, 7-0. Williams pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just 5 hits, 0 BB's, 0 runs, and struck out 2. Why isn't he starting over Ryan O'Malley?

Every position player besides Deardorff had 1 hit. Restovich was 1/2 with his 16th HR of the season, 3 RBI's, 1 BB, and 2 runs scored. Buck Coats was 1/2 with his 5th HR of the season, 2 RBI's, 1 BB, and 2 runs scored. Soto was 1/3 with his 2nd HR of the season, 2 RBI's, and a run scored. Fontenot was 1/3 with a double, and Felix, Hoffpauir, and Ojeda were each 1/3.

Daytona down 4-0 in the bottom of the 2nd. They are currently in a rain delay right now. Go figure :P Sotolongo through 2: 5 hits, 4 ER's, 3 BB's, 1 K.

In other AAA news, Tucson is leading Salt Lake by a score of 26-4

Nashville is playing a DH today and lost game 1. Their lead on Iowa is 3.5 games now, with one more game of the DH to go.

West Tenn is 1 back in the SL North.

Daytona is 2.5 ahead of St. Lucie in the FSL East.

Peoria is 3 back in the MWL East, but they won the first half and are already in the playoffs.

Boise is 3 up in the NWL East.

Mesa is horrible.

Petrick is looking good so far. He's fallen behind a few hitters but has come back with strikes just about every time. He has 5 Ks through 3 thanks to a very nice curve that is really dropping tonight.

Lewis triples off the wall in center to drive in a run. The center fielder made a nice try, but he just missed it. Hit about 7 feet up. A sac fly by Puello makes it 3-0.

Petrick's line so far: 5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K, 6-4 GO-FO. One hit was a high bouncing infield single. He's had a 3 ball count on 3 batters so far, but has yet to walk anyone. By the looks of it, his velocity looks pretty decent.

Petrick's 6th:

-First pitch groundout 6-3

-Single up the middle on an 0-2 hanging curve

-Single to right on a 3-2 pitch after falling behind 2-0, runner to third

-Sac fly to relatively deep center

And that's it for Petrick. He's responsible for the runner on 2nd.

Unofficial line: 5.2 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 5 K, 7-5 GO-FO

Blevins comes in and gets the batter to fly out to center to end the inning.

Colvin's 8th double of the season (down the first base line) drives in another run. Canzler brings him home on a sac fly two batters later. 5-1.
