Dear Todd: Quit making errors. Your killing your trade value.

at least we got our ace pitcher Novoa out there to put out any fires........

Out of 579 players who have pitched in MLB this year, Baseball Prospectus ranks Novoa as the 521st most valuable.

Hey.... that makes him top 90%, no?

Just barely.

Not making the top 521:

Jae-Kuk Ryu

Mark Prior

Rich Hill

Glendon Rusch

Big Z ranks #6, by the way.

Well..... their system is obviously flawed if Zambrano is only ranked 6th, eh?

Webb

Arroyo

Santana

Halladay

Liriano

Zambrano

Carpenter

Zito

Schmidt

Schilling

Prior is ranked so low because VORP is a counting stat; a few good starts, and he would turn things around rapidly. The same is true for Ryu and Hill. Novoa and Rusch, on the other hand, would have to perform well over an extended period of time to rise higher in the rankings.

145 innings with a sub-3 ERA is very, very good. He won't keep it up, and there's not much distance between Arroyo and everyone else in the 3-10 spots, but he's been good thus far.

Zambrano had several rough starts at the beginning of the year. He could move up in the rankings with his next start.

Anyone see what happened with Eyre? I'm on radio here.

any info would be appreciated here as well

No official announcement yet. Pat Hughes speculated that he tweaked something in his back throwing the pitch that struck out Robert Fick to open the inning.

OK. How do you score from first on a single?

It was only a single because Escobar (or whoever was up) came up lame rounding first. Murton stumbled in LF, and Cedeno's throw, that would've thrown out Johnson easily, was about 5 feet away from the plate.

I am very upset right now.

I really do want the Cubs to win this (these) game(s) against the Gnats. I have friends (acquaintances) who are johnny-come-National fans. They have no idea what it means to suffer. Damn them all.
