These 2 bands and Pink Floyd are why I cant listen to Classic Rock stations. Though the music isnt similar they do have the same problems on classic rock stations. Most of their better stuff doesnt get played. I throw up just about everytime I hear Freebird or Bohemian Rhapsody. Than the next hour its Gimme 3 steps and We will Rock you/Champions. Lynard Skynard, ZZ Top and The Allman Bros are all 3 good blues based rock bands with a Southern style. I never really enjoyed Queen as much though they have had great moments like Fat Bottom Girls. I thought this was going to be a hard vote but it really was easier than I thought. Lynard Skynard.

 

Question for Derwood. Do you hate the Blues? Seems like every band so far that is very bluesy like the Stones, Clapton, Allman bros and Lynard Skynard you dislike. Bands that are more technical and good lyriscist you seem to enjoy more.

i love the blues. i wouldn't consider any of the bands you listed even remotely similar to my favorite blues performers

I wouldnt go as far as calling them blues bands however all the ones I mentioned above certainly have a strong blues feel to them. Not so much what we hear on the Radio from them but if you listened to albums from all of these bands they all certainly have a strong blues influence. I would check out the Stones stuff from the late 60s early 70s. Not any recent stuff.

Queen was monumental. Arguably the greatest ever. There's just no question about that. Look at the volume of work, the diversity of it, the insane talent of the musicians, the sheer number of hit songs--many of them completely different from each other.

I think the Beatles have them beat on volume, diversity and hit songs sounding completely different. However, Queen was very very good at that as well. Having diversity in your work is something I admire greatly in rock bands.
