He "keeps showing up for work." That's the basis for a new two year extension? I can't find the words for this piece of nonsense.

Dusty is such a great employee. It's amazing that he can still get out of bed each morning to work for a measly $4.5 million.

Thing is, you could say retaining any manager provides stability, and obviously success in the job is not a criterion for Rogers, therefore Rogers' logic would dictate retaining Daffy Duck.

Didn't Kramer keep showing up for work? Even though he wasn't actually on the payroll? Maybe Hendry should hire Kramer! He couldn't be any worse, could he?

Even Kramer got fired from that job which he didn't really have. Now just fire Dusty!!!

It boggles my mind at how much people take for granted a good offensive catcher.... not even good... outstanding like barrett, who improves every year. Its not like he is mike piazza out there. trading barrett is as useful as I knitting. and i cant knit.

I don't recall giving any express written consent for you to steal my quote like that.

We have a team that is dead last (or close to it) in ever major offensive statistical category, and Phil Rogers wants to trade our Silver Slugger catcher. Brilliant!

On the other hand, it's not as crazy as it sounds. Sell high and get some good prospects in return. Imagine if they could get a haul like Minnesota did for AJ Pierzynski. If I had any confidence whatsoever in Jim Hendry's ability to judge talent, I wouldn't totally dismiss the idea.

I love the way Dusty always claps his hands together before he takes the ball from the pitchers to make a change. It is beautiful. That is reason enough to sign him to a multi-year deal.

It is hard to find a manger who can tank a team with a payroll around $100 mil.

If you look at the responses on Chicagosports.com, 30% of people have actually said "Yes" Baker should get a 2 year deal. Who are these people???

I'm more troubled by the 14% who voted 'Let's see the '07 roster first'.

Still trying to figure out the logic behind that response.

How about George? He does have experience working for the New York Yankees!

Does anybody else find it strange that just 2 weeks ago, Phil Rogers wrote the Cubs should hire Razor Shines as their manager? Why did Rogers do a 180? Did he have a discussion with someone in the front office that caused him to write the article?

I think this is going to get interesting. Almost forgot, I like his suggestion - "get Prior healthy", that's a good one Phil, you must have sat up nights thinking up that one.
