In today's game, Trachsel got through the 4th & 5th innings (7 batters) on 13 pitches. Even more amazing, of his first 75 pitches in the game, 21 of them were to DLee. Way to make the pitchers work Cubbies.

That's what you get for "being aggressive".

I can't believe Trachsel is still playing. He's only 35 but he seems so much older.

Who cares? Didn't you hear what Dusty said? They hit some balls extremely hard...they just didn't fall in. Poor Cubs are on pace to be the unluckiest team in the history of baseball.

Brenley pointed out the importance of getting into any team's middle relief (which is the weakest set of pitchers on a team), but it's pretty hard to do when you average less than 2 pitches per batter for two innings.

Those stats really aren't all that amazing. They've become commonplace with this team.

PS: I blame it all on Aramis Ramirez's lack of hustle.

The middle relief on the Mets is actually better then Trachsel.

Doesn't anyone on the Cubs remember when Trachs pitched for the team? The way to beat him is to take pitches, even strikes. He gets frustrated deep in counts and throws gopher balls...and lets not forget how terrible he is out of the stretch if you actually get runners on.

Now I understand against great pitchers you want to be aggressive, but Steve is the type of pitcher that you hit hard between pitches 70-100; 13 pitches in two innings against him is criminal.

No kidding...I remember him being old and no good and that had to have been back in what...98 was the last time he was with the Cubs? He actually wasn't old then I guess...just no good...and then I may have been wrong there too...one of those back of the rotation guys that would have been a heck of a lot better than sending Rusch out there...heck, I bet he's seen a LOT more innings than even KWood in that time.

God, this is so true. Lee worked him like a pro...when he finally walked, the pitches weren't even close.

Nah, man, it's not because Ramirez didn't hustle, it is the kids that are holding the Cubs back.
