I can't stand Aerosmith. They are another band that I just dislike because it seems like all their songs sound similar and are formulaic. Like, I honestly have a hard time distinguishing between "Crazy" and "Crying". They only have one song that I like, and that was their first one, 1972's "Dream On"

well they really jumped the shark when they hired people to write their songs for them.

I won't argue that a lot of Aerosmith's songs sound similar (Amazin' is right there w/ Crazy and Crying for me), but they're in a poll against the White Stripes. Are you saying a lot of their songs don't sound similar?

I'm not really a fan of the White Stripes at all. I just think Aerosmith is one of the most overrated bands of all human history.

DANG! I didn't know that! I cannot stand it when "artists" don't write their own material, especially ones that are trying to be taken seriously. It's one thing when the Spice Girls don't write their music, but when a band like Aerosmith doesn't, that really blows. It's actually the main reason that I don't respect Elvis as a musician very much, I don't believe he wrote any of his stuff.

There are some songs by each group that I like, but neither is my favorite band. I just found your argument about the similarity of songs being a strike against Aerosmith to be interesting when the other option was the WS.

I defy you to find two songs that sound alike on "Get Behind Me Satan'

Never heard of White Stripes in my life.

Never heard their music, or never heard of the group. If you've been alive for the last few years, I just find the latter surprising.

I shall not be defied!

I've listened to that disc once and didn't like it, so I haven't again. So I can't really name any of the songs on it, let alone compare them. I'm thinking more of Elephant/De Stijl.

It's funny because Aerosmith's early stuff isn't all alike. It's actually quite good----lots of groove for a '70s hard rock band.

But once they made their comeback------all of a sudden Aerosmith was like the McDonald's of rock; they were everywhere, the music wasn't nearly as good as the old stuff, nobody seemed to have the guts to admit it. 4 or 5 albums of inferior stuff and they're winning Grammys for it. It got to be waaaaay too much.

Aerosmiths' 70's stuff was great. And some of their 80's stuff was also very good. I don't like what they've done since the mid 90's (although I love the rockin' rollar coaster ride at Disney that has an Aerosmith tie-in) but I don't think it's any worse than many of the other bands that held on past their prime to keep cashing checks.

White Stripes is decent. They are a nice change of pace. But after loading them into my Ipod and putting it on shuffle I've noticed how annoying they can be over time. They are like a niche band, even though they had a run there for a while of being the darlings of music media.

I got to go with Aerosmith here.

The White Stripes are the best band in the U.S. right now.

it's a crime that Aerosmith is winning this poll.

I agree totally with both of your stuff about Aerosmith. My vote is because i like the old 'classic' stuff of Aero more than WS. Joe Perry is an arrogant prick but still voted for still them.

That's just an outright lie. Aerosmith is very deserving of support. It's a relatively fair matchup, but I lean toward Aerosmith's best music as the reason to go in their favor.
