BOO, Rusch actually had a very good game. The last thing I wanted was for him to pitch well and give Dusty (or whoever the manager is after the All-Star break) an excuse to put him back in the rotation.

 

Now if this was a showcase for a trade, then I'll retract my boo. :D

Somehow I think the former will be true even though I wish the latter was true.

Rusch's start yesterday reminded me of Estes' start in a critical game near the end of 2003. Many of us (myself included, IIRC) were grumbling that the Cubs were in effect forfeiting a must-win, but Estes pitched his best game of the year and the Cubs won. The main difference between that game and Rusch's start yesterday is that the Estes game actually meant something.
