At the beginning of the inning, Len questioned bringing in Kolb instead of Turnbow. Yeah, it's the 8th inning, but Walker-Lee-Ramirez would be tougher outs than what Turnbow would face in the 9th.

 

If I'm not mistaken, that would be 3 straight appearances by Turnbow. Maybe he was hoping the Cubs wouldn't score, and they'd get to build on the 2 run lead in the 9th, making it unnecessary to send him out there at all today.

 

But yeah, there's no reason to save your best reliever for the less dangerous hitters.

In reality, he's a little below average, but not that much. Stats show that Weeks and Jenkins are worse in the field:

In my defense, my comment about Carlos Lee was that he's slow, lazy and doesn't have much of an arm.
