Jaxx lose once again to Tennessee, 6-2 :x Gallagher was tagged with his 1st loss at West Tenn as he went 5 and 2/3's allowing 9 hits, 3 runs, 3 BB's, and had 4 K's. Vasquez faced one batter and got him out to end the 6th. Cherry pitched the final 2 innings and gave up 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 BB's, and had a strikeout. Rojas and Walker each had 2 hits. Sing, Lewis, and Moore each had 1 hit. Sing and Jackson were the only Jaxx to have RBI's in the game.

Mesa trails 6-1 in the 5th.

Mesa has jumped ahead of Tempe 8-7 with 3 in the 7th and 4 in the 8th. They're trying to close it out now and get their first win of the year.

DH Lisandro Rosario (3/4, BB, 2B, RBI, 2 Rs), 3B Marwin Gonzalez (2/5, 3B, 2 Rs) and 2B Ryan Lilly (3/5, BB, 3 RBI, SB, R) have had huge games offensively.

That Daytona/Vero Beach game sounded like a scorcher. The Dodgers trotted out one of their best young arms, Scott Elbert, who threw 7.2 IP, gave up 1 hit, 4 walks, one earned run...and struck out 13.

Yeowza!

Boise lost 8-4, every single pitcher tonight gave up atleast one run. Camp, Clevenger, Joseph, and Mercedes all had multi-hit games; Canzler and Joseph each had solo homers, and Camp had a triple.

Canzler's leading the league in home runs at this moment with 4. Not bad, considering how young the season is.

Let's hope that if he becomes the next Harvey/Dopirak uber-power prospect, some one can bash some plate patience into his head. I don't care much for Ks as long as a guy shows he can walk on a consistent basis.

Sorry about the delay in posting, but I am busy packing for my summer vacation :D

Some thoughts on last night's Boise game.

1) Lewis - He showed a real strong arm. But he appears to have a major problem...balls that are hit right at him. I thought it was just a mental thing when he let a ball get past him in the first game of the series, but it happened again last night. He was unable to reach a ball that landed a few feet in front of him and it bounced past him. It was embarassing since I had just told the SK fan sitting next to me what a good looking prospect he was.

2) Alfred Joseph - The more I see this guy the more I like him. He keeps on making spectacular catches in right. A strong arm that has convinced the SK coaches not to run on him. And he is starting to hit the ball with authority. Last night's homerun was quite a shot to left. The only problem I have seen with him is on the basepaths. He was thrown out going from 2nd to 3rd on a grounder with no outs. Bad judgement, but hopefully he will learn.

3) Mercedes might be an interesting catcher prospect. Demonstrated a strong arm when he threw out a runner attempting to steal. He is quick and athletic. He is small enough that I would worry about him blocking the plate though.

4) Baez laid down a beautiful bunt.

5) Canzler is going to hit a few homeruns. He seems to have two strokes. One is an upper cut swing that has produced his homeruns. His homers have been high majestic shots that land a few feet over the fence. He has another swing that results in line drive shots, but they have a little too much hang time and are always hit at someone. I did see what looked ike a hit-and-run attempt by him that just resulted in a awkward looking pop-up to second. I wonder if he will be able to develop power to right.

Also, now it looks like the big steal from the LaTroy trade was Aaardvaark, not Jerome Williams??? Did he fall off the face of the earth?

Isn't that one of the biggest problems most young OFs have? I've heard from a number of places that balls hit right at the OF are always the hardest to judge, but I don't know if that's a load or what.
