Murton is likely to get a stay of execution. Bynum and Womack both left tonight's game early due to injury, prompting Lee to be activated a day earlier than scheduled. If at least one of the injured players has to go on the DL, there would be no need to demote Murton to make room for Lee on the roster. And if Bynum goes on the DL Murton may regain his full-time starting LF job.

No. Dusty would probably just platoon him with Mabry.

until pagan (whose reputation with dusty/hendry seems to have inexplicably reached savior status) comes back. his return is the most hyped return for a .570 OPS fifth outfielder that i've ever seen.

Bynym and Womack are both listed as day-to-day, which doesn't sound like they're going on the DL. I haven't seen anything about what the Cubs are doing to make room on the roster for Lee. Ideally, Womack would just be released (he won't help with the future; Murton may).

Bynum isn't listed on the active roster if you go to Cubs.com.

bynum to the DL must be the 25-man move to bring lee back.

It is. Confirmed on the telecast today.

At least Murton is staying in the majors. Whether he stays in the starting lineup remains to be seen; there's talk of Nevin starting in LF. If the Cubs were contending this year that might be a good move because of Nevin's power, but since they aren't contending you do NOT start a player with no future over one who may have a future. Unless you're Dusty, that is. :x

Of course Hendry could sign Nevin to a two year contact. Then he would have a future.

Why stop at two years? :D

I also heard Nevin is likely to start in LF today.

Has Murt officially been sent back down? Or is this more of a platoon now?

Actually, with the way Nevin is hitting you do start him. Nevin will most likely be traded by the deadline, so why not give him a shot in LF to possibly impove his trade value? In the meantime you can use Murton as a fourth outfielder and get him some at bats here and there by giving Jones and Pierre a day off, with Jones moving to CF when Pierre is out. I don't think it is a bad move.

Nevin has cooled off quite a bit in the last week or so. Tough call.
