Back in 1990, EVERY rapper from the West Coast wore Raiders and Kings gear. Now they wear stuff from the city they are from (Atlanta, St. Louis, etc.)

The reason you don't see rappers wearing Cubs stuff is because VERY few big name rappers are from Chicago. Kanye West, uh, and another one maybe

And West would where WS stuff, simply for the black and white and for them winning the WS.

And he's from the South Side

I leave the "other team hating" to White Sox fans

Very well put, I agree completely.

Also, I spend enough energy hating the Cubs. This year has been particulalrly draining in that department, so I really don't have anything left for any other teams.

To me maybe it's not soley the way they play baseball. Their "fans" are arrogant and obnoxious and many no little about baseball. I would almost be willing to bet that half of the population that wears a Yankees cap doesn't know what the logo stands for and/or can't name one player on the team.

^yes, I am implying that "Daddy Yankee" knows little about the Yankees

And while we're on the subject of baseball-cap-bearing rappers:

Hey Lil Jon, your Braves are in the cellar of the NL East.... what? you haven't heard?

this post is so laughable. you're kidding me, right? "wow, i hate the yankees cuz those rap guys wear their hats!"

lil jon is from atlanta...could be possibly be a braves fan or is that too much out of the question since he's a hip-hop artist? big boi and andre 3000 from outkast wear braves jerseys and hats...do they know that they are in the cellar? what an absurd question to ask.

for the record, there are chicago hip-hop artists who have worn cubs clothing. twista has worn cubs jerseys in the past and so has chali-2na from the jurassic 5. diverse has also worn cubs clothing at one point or another.

what a silly reason to hate a team...

No.... I don't hate the Yankees for that reason, you are missing the point. Arghh I guess it's something I can't explain...... I have my various reasons. Maybe fellow Yankee-Haters know what I mean. In fact, this thread should probably be in rants .

There were a bunch of back pages stories here about how the Mets were starting to cut into the Yankees fan base. Its not just that the Mets are playing better, its just that guys like Wright, Reyes and Pedro are cooler then Damon, A-ROD, and the Old Unit.

This is an awful big generalization. I'm sure there are just as many "knowledgeable" fans of the Yankees as there are of the Cubs.

Big deal! The Cubs are one of the worst teams in baseball, but if I want to wear my Cubs hat, jersey, etc. when I go out in public, I have that right.

About the Yankees fans: You don't see rappers wearing Cubs hats regularly.... its always YANKEES YANKEES YANKEES. And the person wearing the cap know NOTHING about the team yet the team wins so "its cool". The Yankees have the biggest bandwagon fanbase of any MLB team. Maybe not all the fans, but a nig amount.

Snoop Dogg regularly wears Oakland gear.

Actually, this is a bunch of bull, I see a ton of artists wear all kinds of gear, in fact the most popular stuff I've seen recently has been the White Sox black on black hat.

Now, I'm not a White Sox fan by any means, but they do have a cool symbol. You have to admit that.

The Yankee logo is more of a symbol than a sign of fandom. Lots of people kick Red Sox and Cubs clothes, and probably know very little about the teams. It's all about fashion, and the Yankee cap and logo (amongst others) is very cool. They've won 26 World Championships and like 45 pennants. There's an aura of class and legendary stories and players behind them... I can understand why a symbol representing that would be cool and why people would want to associate themselves with it. You don't see very many people wearing D-Backs or Royals hats, do you? Deal with it, buddy.

And Big Pun wore a Pirates cap during the late 90's and early 2000's. Because his name began with a P, get it? Should we hate his dead legacy, too?
