Spier and Rothchild can stay the rest should be fired .

Rothschild has to go also. Chris Spier has done a good job at 3rd base.

I find the Speier love interesting. How do we know he has done a good job? I'm NOT diminishing his role as a 3rd base coach, I think it is the most difficult coaching job besides the Manager. It is just that beyond getting someone thrown out at home his job flies under the radar.

I have no problem with him staying, just not sure how you (you being people outside the organization who aren't privy to the day to day handlings of the club) can evaluate his performance.

He's certainly no Wendell....

Well, he rarely if ever has to make any decisions so it's hard for him to look bad I guess.

It's not that, he has plenty of decisions to make when it comes to sending/holding runners etc. I also know that Speier works with the infielders as well. It is just that a lot his work goes unnoticedexcept when he has to send someone home to score.

One thing is for certain though, ARam defensively has been pretty good this year.

At this point in time and for as long as weve waited..Money is not an object for us fans..All we want is some world series caliber players on that field no matter how much they cost..We want to win games, get into the playoffs, and go to the world series and win...So whatever it takes, do it.Its not our money so why should we care how much a player gets....Its not like weve ever had money trouble,we can afford anyone in baseball, even with how horrible our team is now, 16 games under, its pretty funny how we still average around 40,000 people a game still...I wish it wasnt like that, then maybe theyd made some quicker moves, but thats how cub fans have always been

I'd say that but for the rookie mistakes by Cedeno, our infield defense has been VERY solid.

I'd keep Speier, because you need someone to take over as the interim manager. This gives him an opportunity to be evaluated. Let him call a few of his buddies to fill in at the other coaching positions.

It may be tough finding someone to fill the manager's position midseason, and it's not like anyone could do anything positive with this current mess anyway.

If it's just in a lame duck role, I'm fine with him finishing out the season.

The smart move would be to hire Don Zimmer to finish his career as a big league manager with the Cubs this year. The reason is because you would get more sellouts even though the team is horrible.

I agree. I was a fan or Rothschild but it's wearing down. I never saw anything special from Spier, but I think a lot of people here like him for some reason.

I think people like him because he has been solid at 3B. Having wavin wendell as your predecessor will do that to ya.

Yeah, I'd just rather not keep anyone around connected to Hendry and Baker. It's nothing personal against him, but since he hasn't done anything noteworthy, flush this whole thing down the toliet and start over.

The only reason why Speier is connected with Baker, is because they are both on the staff. Speier is not a "Baker boy" and Speier replaced a "Baker Boy" in Wendall. I still prefer to keep Speier, seeing as I think he would make a solid bench coach and/or manager.

If for nothing else, firing Baker means Rothschild, Pole, Clines, Sarge are gone...I can't say the Cubs would do anything BUT improve.

I certainly don't want them to even think about the idea of keeping Speier as a manager for next year.

MacPhail is the only one who should stay. Everybody else should go.

If you would have heard MacPhail on the radio a couple of weeks back you'd want him gone too. He's as clueless as Hendry.
