That Rick spent a couple of minutes talking about how Dusty told him its not just the "gold and silver" the Cubs miss from Lee; but also his speed. Len and Bob immediately agreed pointing out that Lee steals twenty bases a year.

 

Thats right folks, one of the reasons the Cubs went on their June Swoon a month early was the 2 or 3 bases Dereck Lee might have stolen.

I was laughing at Rick for the "sore shoulder" bit after the opening pitch. His commentary is really bad, even worse then Ryno's column on yahoo last year, but he can say whatever he wants and still be one of my favorites.

 

But my unsopportive wife was getting a real kick out of my reaction to how bad the team misses DLEE's speed.

Sutcliffe may not have been drunk, but he was buzzing. Just as he started his rant about DLee's speed, Len quickly interjected with the fact that he's one of the best defensively, regardless of position.

D-Lee is 30 years old, and has stolen 20 bases ONCE in his career (21 back in 2003).
