MiLB has P's Mark Pawelek, Darin Downs, Alfredo Francisco, Kyle Holden, Leonel Perez, and Luke Hagerty, C's Peter Farina and Oscar Bernard, and 3B Elvin Puello listed on Boise's roster.

The AZL Cubs' roster is too long to post so here is where you can find it.

Kitt Kopach

Kopach was selected by the Chicago Cubs with the 359th pick overall. The Darien, Ill., native will travel to the Cubs' spring training facility in Mesa, Ariz., for a week before departing for Boise, Idaho, to play for the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League (Class A Short-Season).

EDIT: Boise's first game is indeed on Monday.

That looks almost exactly like last year's roster. Something tells me it may be a bit out of date.

Mark Pawelek is obviously expected to return to Boise and it sounds like the Cubs expect to sign Jeff Samardzija before the NWL season starts and send him to Boise too.

Boise will have a media day on Friday - I expect we'll hear the roster the night before or on Friday itself.

True, I think it is just a list of everyone left in our system not currently assigned someplace else. There are several 18/19yr. olds on that roster though that I don't think were there last year.

Well, Oscar Bernard is listed as a catcher on that roster. Oscar switched over to pitching this spring.

Didn't know that, and I also wonder if Francisco is still in the system? Pretty much ever since he moved to P from 3B he's been unheard from.

I think that is just last year's Mesa roster with a few names added to it.

I'm pretty sure Nick Crouch, Dave Seara and Chad Underwood were released during the offseason/ST.

I'm curious about Jose Pina. He had a pretty nice run down in AZ last year and I was kinda hoping to see if he could make a mark in Boise this season.

Other guys I expect to be in Boise: Russ Canzler, Deryck Lewis, Sammy Baez, William Paganetti, Ryan Episcopo, and Randy Brown.

Hagerty is listed on the Boise roster too, and I thought he was too old to play in that league.

I'm not possitive but I believe each team is allowed to have something like 1 or 2 players over the age limit.

from the Boise Hawks website:

June 14, 2006 - BOISE, ID – The Boise Hawks are just days away from opening their 20th Anniversary Season. The Hawks open with Eugene Monday, June 19, in a 7:15pm start with the Emeralds.

This Friday, June 16, the Hawks arrive at 1:39pm at the Boise airport. The media will have an opportunity for interviews and video at that time. Fans and the general public are welcome to attend.

The team’s official media day is Saturday, June 17, at Memorial Stadium - located at 5600 Glenwood St. - from 10am-12pm. The team’s first workout will begin at noon on Saturday. Again, fans are welcome to attend.

Based on this, I wouldn't be that sure MiLB's rosters are quite right yet. I would bet that the Boise website and local newspaper will be better sources in the short-term anyway.

That could be. It may be allowed primarily for injury rehabilitation.

Thanks for the link.

In terms of pitchers, Maestri, Martinez, and Roquet are all pitchers I know nothing about. Jose Pina is a guy that will merit keeping an eye on. He put up good numbers in the AZ League last season and is only 20 years old. Ruhlman is a lefty with some upside. Pawelek everyone knows about. Jackson might become a nice bullpen arm. Hopefully Petrick can rehab back to 100%.

Position-wise, Episcopo and Lewis both are intriguing OF guys. Sammy Baez is supposed to be a defensive wizard despite his youth. Canzler's been pounding the ball down in the AZ League for the past two years now. Puello is supposed to be quite good defensively at 3B and is repeating the NWL. Castillo and Lalli don't ring any bells for me.

Did anyone else hear the reports that Bernard was throwing the ball 98-99 MPH. During spring training? He could be interesting to keep an eye on as well..... maby the next marmol?????
